The answer to all this is all so simple: One 16 team/One class State tourney. Have the sixteen section winners meet in St. Paul in March. This way you still have 16 teams shooting for winning a title, there would be no more JV trash talk and if the small schools are good enough to make it to the sho...

The Mustangs will do just fine this year in their conference, and may even be favorites to make it to state again this year. I do however agree that STA is without question the team to beat this year in class A. The Breck team is good, but nowhere as deep as its been in the past 5 years. As for movi...

It's been a week or so since I've been on here and it surprises me there's only one more page of whining, thought it'd be much more. What strikes me as so odd about this whole topic is that you have "bashers" (for lack of a better term) who started this thread and have been going on and on putting ...

Another question I have is, (please note this is hypothetical and it would never happen) IF the league decided that private schools could no longer play in the tourney at either class, what would happen to the privates schools', student body? People would play at their home towns like in bantams an...

Comparing swimming to hockey?? That is your argument? That's bad, even for you. Lee Well this statement just shows how little you know about swimming. Sure, they're different types of games, but all the external things that are required to be successful, especially on a team level, are the same or ...

Re: Well let me see....
Let me get this straight. I get to start a "hockey school." I can choose from the best players in the city/region that I want to play for me. Those player do not have restrictions on where they live...in fact they don't even have to live in my school’s "district." I can recruit them...and basically...

Watching STA vs. Little Falls right now (4-0 STA early in 2nd period)...and what strikes me is it's like watching (in effect) a top level AAA team or Select team playing a community based team. This will likely be the case 3 times today. In one of the games, the bigger team will be on the short end...

OK bitter Cathedral man. We shall see. would you admit LF plays in an extremely weak section? If cathedral and little falls were in the same section i think you would see little falls at the X one out of 10 years. i have read your idiotic kool aid drinking posts on here for the past few years...LF ...

If privates were moved to AA (see my idea a few posts earlier), the field would be (if next highest seed made it): 1: New Prague 2: Delano 3: New Ulm 4: Mahtomedi 5: Hermantown 6: Little Falls 7: Hibbing 8: TRF Likely seeding: (using the "random" draw) 1. Herm vs New Ulm 2. TRF vs New Prague 3. Mah...

I do believe this thread is getting out of hand... but i'll put forth my two cents anyways. Here is my solution: don't allow opting up. If all private teams and teams like East, Grand Rapids, Roseau and some others who I all believe are below the enrollment line played in A then we really wouldnt h...

Why would EP make a 16 team field they lost in the first round to a 7 seed? OK, maybe EP was a bad example, but if there were 16 sections you'd have a lot better chance of seeing the 16 "best" teams playing in March instead of creating a second tier tourney. Why should a weak New Ulm team get the c...

We can argue about this forever but the only way to fix this is to move back to a one class tournament. As for the argument of taking away the opportunity for so many players to get the chance to play for for it all in St. Paul in March, I'd say just change it to a 16 team field and then the exact s...

Whats the point of the State Tourney? I'd say it's to let the top teams in the State square off for the opportunity to win it all. That's why in my opinion, the only way to really make this happen is to go back to a single tournament and let the 16 section winners regardless of size, or being public...

Breck at #6? Even after the likely thumping they will take from the trip to SSM tomorrow night, they are deserving of a top three spot every bit as much as uniforms from St. Paul. DMRSL? Breck has a better record and they beat them handily at the beginging of the year. Class A will be won this year ...
