If Hermantown wants to stay in class A, let them, that is their decision. Our country has turned into a bunch of whiners. Whatever class they are in they can be beat. EGF did it last year and they are certainly no hockey powerhouse. Hibbing has produced teams in the past that were as good or better ...

Hibbing played good defense last night and Hermantown did not help themselves by taking 8 penalties. It is tough to score goals when you are on the PK so much. Carlson played good for most of the game, but at times seems to lose his focus. He seems to stuggle with the mental part of his game. Hibbin...

Thompsons play reminds me a lot of how Tromp from Hibbing who came on strong the second half of his senior year to help lead his team to state. I remember watching these two play together on the Duluth Northern Wings one season, very similar styles. Good luck to Zach and Denfeld, but you better prep...

I have to scratch my head and wonder with all that has been said about the kids and hockey on the Range how did Hibbing ever put together a team that made it to State two years ago?

After the Grand Rapids game I thought Hibbing would have a good chance of giving Hermantown their first loss of the season, but then I watched Hibbing lose to Virginia and I changed my mind. Then come to find out that one of their best players Josh Bestul is out for the rest of the season with an in...

Hats off to Virginia's 9th grade goalie Lucas Murray. He had a great game. I look forward to watching him in the future. Hibbing better get their act togeather, this is too late in the season to be playing like this.

I was very impressed with the way the goaltender from Virginia played last night. For being only a 9th grader the kid was very at ease in the nets, has good fundamentals and squared up and handled his rebounds well. If he works hard I can see him being one of the top goalies in Northern Minnesota in...

I'm not going to make any predictions on this one. Bronco Arena is a tough place to play in. With a large vocal Bronco crowd and ealpouts sliding across the rink it can be intimidating for inexperirenced players. Roseau is another tough place to play at more so because of the refs. Its still early i...

After watching last nights game I think the people of Hibbing are starting to realize what an incredible team they had last year under the leadership of DeCenzo, Doherty and Tromp. They will truly be missed. I don't know if anyone else caught this, but could someone tell me why Hibbing made their go...

This game will be a lot closer then people think. The big problem for Hibbing will be their goaltending. They are going to have to put up a lot of points to compensate for their lack of experience in nets. I don't see them doing this aginst Little Falls. I give Little Falls a slight edge at this poi...

I have watched goalies for many years and I would say this year Tromp from Hibbing and Lindgren from Lakeville North stood out. These two goalies took mediocre teams and carried them on their backs to and through the state tournament.

Wow!, very great game and rivalry to watch. It reminded me of the story of David and Goliath. A very small and rudy young team versus a very good, experienced and senior dominated team. To be outshot and win by a score of 5-0 amazes me. Like I said in a previous post a very good senior goalie with p...

I have watched goalies for many years. Virginia has a very fine goalie, but I would have to say Tromp from Hibbing and DeGuiseppi from Grand Rapids are the best from this area. Tromp has put up some good numbers this year despite the fact that he does not have a lot of experienced defensemen in fron...

People put too much emphasis on their hometown goalies. They are only as good as the players in front of them who help them out. If Hibbing wants to keep on winning everyone has to do their job, no mental lapses.

I hate to sound like an old record, but the facts still remain that Hibbing has a very weak and inexperienced defensive corp. Add to this they have no power play or penalty kill. On the other hand I hear Stampohar will be back and if the Johnson brothers are on fire and they play their better goalie...

Virginia has the advantge period. They are a solid team and are playing on their own ice. Hibbing has no defense . Their two best defensemen Peratello and Decenzo have to play as forwards if Hibbing is going to score any goals. If those two are not playing defense whomever they put in nets is going ...

Hibbinghater13, I agree with you that the Hibbings' defense is week, but they will get better as the season progresses. Peratelo is back so that will be a big plus. I also agree that Tromp is playing strong in the nets. I heard from one of the players that he got a blade across his thigh the other n...

Congratulations to the North 2011 Soph.Team for winning the Gopher State. They beat the West 6-2, tied the East Team 4-4 and beat the South Team 5-3. In the championship game they beat the West Team 7-3. From what I heard they had a well balanced team with some solid goaltending.

This cannot be the best that Minnesota has to offer. I see they have four goalies from Faribault. None of whom I have ever heard of. That town must be the goalie capital of the world. They must have really scraped the bottom of the barrel to put this event together.

I checked Matt Rays stats at the select 16 national developmet camp last year. He was ranked 23rd out of 24 goalies with a .832 SV% and a 6.45 GAA, not very good. Kid gets alot of hype. Maybe it's time to give someone else a chance this year.
