you don't address 4 teams/4goalies and pwa got 2 out of the 4 pwb2 none, you should check with your board what they payed for and these weren't scholarships, the pwa coach even told the 2 kids to go lease goalie skates and SCYHA would pay it, but your treasure sent the bill to the pwa coach and tol...

For the record-- the admin. costs for St Cloud youth hockey were decided by a previous board of directors. The board at that time voted for this. Membership approved. The costs may still be necessary. Good to hear new board plans to review cost structure.

A note in defense of the current youth hockey board. Last night at the meeting, Mr. Kennedy was very clear to point out that he absolutely has no issues with the current board of directors for St. Cloud youth hockey.

One more point. Mr. Kennedy stated that he would ask the MH official to withdraw his motion to vote on the St. Cloud split at the MH meeting in June.

Wasn't the SCYHA meeting last night to discuss this? Any feedback for us, anyone? There was a St. Cloud Youth Hockey board meeting last night. I was there. Two District 10 reps attended. Mr. Kennedy presented. The board reiterated that there has been no call for a split from the local hockey famili...

To the Elliot and Wicked posters, I have been told that the meeting did not go very smoothly with the motion to spl it. A number of very good arguments against a split were raised . There is concern that this is not a Minnesota Hockey issue and should be a local issue. It is also felt that Minnesot...

Correction on the above post. I believe Rich said Mr. Hommerding asked him to become involved. We have notes from the meeting. I will consult them to make sure. I did say I have called a number of people looking for information and help and Colleen Donovan was one of them. That's when her name came...

Morning everyone: I was just about to post when I saw your question on last night's meeting. We sent out invitations to about 345 members (all of St. Cloud Youth Hockey Assocation) last Wednesday and Thursday inviting them to the open meeting and posted it on our webiste. We had about 26 show up. T...

Cathedral has beaten Tech in soccer the past few years. Interesting, Apollo has no problem playing against Cathedral in hockey and soccer, but Tech now avoids playing Cathedral in both sports. I know Tech defeated Cathedral in basketball last year, but heck, this is a hockey forum and who gives a ri...

One could say that Eden Prarie also has a Catholic school in its' neighbor Holy Family. The difference is that at least in recent years, Cathedral is the dominating high school for hockey in St Cloud.

I agree, Stabbin. I'll throw in my two cents as I've seen some of these league games myself. You're right, when the top caliber teams in the MJHL play each other, it's usually a very good pace with good energy and physical play, and these games are entertaining to watch. Based on my observations of ...

Why eliminating fighting is good • More drawing power. The game would become more family-friendly and could attract a new group of fans. • Improved national image. Sportscasters would have to show video of goals and saves instead of fights. Right now, those highlights make fighting seem more prevale...

Look, I love this game as much as anyone here, but I don't always like what I see with this sport. I can tell you that some fighting is done simply to change the momentum of the game. If a coach does that, IMO, it's a complete cop out and is a sign of a desperate coach, i.e. Indy. You don't see any ...

B & G, I agree entirely with your points about officiating. The thing is, though, the reason fighting occurs in juniors and the pros is that the rules allow it to exist. Sure, you'll see the occasional scrap in high school and college games, as can happen in all sports, but the fact that fightin...

Well, if you can't put up the points, I guess you become a knucklehead and bare your knuckles on the ice to get noticed. Makes a lot of sense, doesn't it? Funny, I wonder why this isn't the case with other sports.

Neither. Just play the game hard and smart and in the end it'll attract more players at the youth level and more fans in the stands.

I'd argue that being a fighter will NOT get these guys to the college level. They can show plenty of toughness by playing the game with grit, hard checking, driving the net, etc. The fighters are typically your 3rd or 4th liner who clearly don't stand a chance of making it anyway, so what the heck, ...
