Re: Early Departures 2020-2021

Boy does Chris McAlpine come across like a class act. Minnesota agents are all great dudes. Toronto guys are cut from a different cloth.

the Player to be Named Later

I've got more information on Fechko to the Hornets. This closes out the Hankinson deal from 2016 when Edina GM Terwilliger moved the forward for future considerations. Rahn had 4 years to send back a "Grade I" player (defined as Elite Leaguer, Natty Camp kid, or Div I verbal) with at least two years...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

But I'm telling you that this is bigger and more fun than if they actually played. Once they drop that puck, the Value of this whole thing disappears! This mindset is why the NCAA steps in when it can for college basketball to ensure games like Wichita St. beating Kansas in 2015. From a newspaper t...

From a hockey standpoint, they should play. Not sure why they don't.

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Stang, short version is that no other Class A program looks like Hermantown. I was raised on Sesame Street. One of these things is not like the other, one of these things just isn't right. Used to be two, then St. Thomas opted up. An amazing shell game sifting through a hunnit plus other schools to ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Thank the almighty that we live in a country that allows people responsible for scheduling a high school activity to do as they see fit. Just not Randolph and East? They can schedule however they see fit. If petty tribalism is more important than spirited competition - the very essence of HS sports...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

It’s weird anyone is worried about “a Class A team” when the only one that is a) in close proximity to a usually good HS program, and b) has an overwhelming consensus agreeing they are in no way representative of Class A is Hermantown. Warroad plays Roseau Cathedral plays St. Cloud East Grand Forks ...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Since 2008 Edina & Eden Prairie have played in the championship game 5 times each. Since the schools are in proximity, it would be strange if their hockey teams refused to play each other.

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Good heavens the absurdity is relentless. 1. Mahtomedi has had a few nice teams but is far from a storied program. The revisionist history you apply is ludicrous. They won state. Once. This season. Did you or anyone else know it was coming? No. Don’t pretend otherwise. 2. Edina High is 31 miles from...

Why does EP schedule Brainerd, Cloquet and East when they could get such a great game locally with the Class A champs?
E.P.'s schedule the past few seasons has included 8 of the past 15 Class A champions. How far behind do you need to be before you'll quit?

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Not hard to figure out. East & Hermantown have been consistently top teams and are about 10 miles apart. It would be a competitive game. What's strange is the great lengths people go to trying to justify why they don't play. Name another natural geographic rivalry that doesn't happen. Roseau plays W...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Dude, there is no good Class A team in SW suburbs. Grab a map. SW Christian Academy? Yeah. Have them play Chaska. That exciting Providence-Wayzata matchup? What are you wrangling for, Kennedy-Edina? Re: The Hermantown Thread

Okay, so Eden Prairie can schedule Brainerd, Moorhead, East and Cloquet, but not Mahtomedi, because they aren’t in the SW Suburbs. Got it. You obviously don't got nothing. They can schedule Mahtomedi. Lee Smith isn't a PLEASE BAN ME, takes on all comers, and has a track record that shows the Eagles...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Do the NHL Scouts ask you what happens when Edina, EP, Minnetonka and Wayzata play Mahtomedi every year? That could be a hell of a rivalry!! Top Metro A team against top Metro AA teams. Why won’t those teams make it happen? Why would they, Mahtomedi plays their natural geographic rivals Stillwater ...

Stang, Forest Lake can play whoever they want. Nobody cares and there’s no great natural rival. Re: The Hermantown Thread

My point is, this. Pick the class you want to be in which ever it is. And play in that class. If you want class AA competition. Be in class AA. Otherwise you have no business playing class AA. If someone states continually that they are class A program, well then play class A teams. It’s that simpl...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

However... whether or not you believe the feud to be petty, there is now a practical incentive for 7AA teams to avoid scheduling Hermantown. Given that QRF treats Class A opponents as second-class citizens, teams are basically shooting themselves in the foot for seeding purposes by playing single A...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

And doesn’t that work great for Hermantown? They play AA teams and when they lose they can cry see we should stay in class A. And when they win they can screen from the class A hill and say look at us. Works perfect for them. Tgat is another reason AA teams shouldn’t play them. There is plenty of g...
