Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season

North Dakota rules seem pretty restrictive if a kid whose family never moved isn't allowed back to play a Varsity sport after a season of Midget hockey while living with a host family.

This has probably been posted before, but take a look at this article:

https://www.neutralzone.net/mens/2019/0 ... outs-life/

Different evaluators watch the same thing and form a very different opinion.
That is a great article.

Re: State of Hockey's Team

I think Westy's overall take is more a tongue-in-cheek comment re: the collective perception of 'lazy recruiting' in Don's later years w/ the Gophs. Lazy is the term I used too. A Gopher assistant had a son playing District 6 hockey and several standout Bantams were given offers young. That filled ...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

While Edina is a premier program with huge amounts of talent, it’s simply not good for the culture of the gophers to have so many kids from the same high school at the same time- whether that’s Edina, Deast , Hill or anyone else An interesting take. Dylan Malmquist, Deekay, Casey Dornbach, Henry Bo...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Motzko should change the vibe and culture.. I'm supportive of the Gophers and that won't change. I don't believe Bob Motzko or anyone else has the ability to lower the expectations to a realistic level. BC, BU, Wisconsin, Michigan, North Dakota...if it were easy for these programs to rule co...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

They went back to the Frozen Four in 2005, 2012, and 2014, reaching the final in that last year. He won a conference regular season championship every year from 2012 through 2017 (and yes, the last four were in the weaker Big Ten, but the first two of those were in the WCHA). This is when I realize...

From what I hear, UW-River Falls pretty much cut all there Tier III Junior players this spring. Apparently Tier III Juniors isn't enough anymore either even for DIII hockey.

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Honestly I think it is dumb that you have to play multiple years of juniors to play D3 hockey. NCAA D3 should make a freshman age limit of 19. You've just taken away the incentive for a kid not Div. I committed upon completion of HS to even try to get there. I fail to see what is so evil about a ki...

I could list out about another 20-30 tips but the way this forum has gotten lately I'm pretty sure multiple people will disagree with almost all of my first seven. These are good. No disagreement here. I also agree with his don't pass idea above. It shouldn't be parent driven, but how a team plays ...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

The one thing that may effect these stats is the number of Europeans and Canadians now jumping into NCAA hockey. If that number continues to grow, it will have an influence on the number of Minnesota kids getting a D-1 offer My understanding is Europeans are growing, but still just a trace. Canadia...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

You could make the point that with older players there are probably 6 or 7 classes involved. However the oldest two classes are likely small in number and the counter to that is some players played D1 hockey then left early for pro hockey. My guess is if you actually tracked it over a long period o...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

We're all speculating here, but it is a great deal different from Shattuck. Most of the kids are MSHSL eligible. Boarding students are not. Well, actually... Boarding school students are eligible to participate in MSHSL activities. Both St. John’s Prep and Winona Cotter have boarding program...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

I think, total conjecture, that the reason the top team is tier 1 is that those players want to compete together for a full season as opposed to the mid-Nov thru Feb schedule of MSHSL. Same reason as Shattuck? We're all speculating here, but it is a great deal different from Shattuck. Most of the k...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

OTC - just to be clear , you are talking about their top Tier 1 kids IF they decided to play high school ? Westie, yes. If the students at the school played MSHSL. They have the players enrolled today to be a power next season. That is obviously not the plan. I asked several people during the seaso...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

If they have that good a team returning, why would they not decide to opt up like most other privates and top end small end schools...cough cough.... Blueblood, obviously the focus is not going to be MSHSL Varsity. Two players are signed to move to Plymouth, Michigan and it does make you wonder whe...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

I can’t imagine Gentry would have anything close to the depth needed for this to be a reasonable take. 3 lines deep with 6 D and a very solid goalie. I'm sure you are netting out a kid or two from out of state that would not be MSHSL eligible, but I do not know enough about their circumstances to c...

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

Had they stayed I find it hard to believe they would be leap-frogging teams like STA and CDH and/or challenging HM for eastside supremacy this soon.

They would have been in the mix to win state. You can't say that about STA or C-DH next year. Maybe Hill. I like what they have returning.

Re: NDTP Invites MN edition

2 Gentry kids making the NTDP roster will make for great marketing material for that program. Or a nail for the coffin. Had the 2003 (15) team played Varsity next year they would have leaped St. Thomas & Cretin to rival Hill-Murray. Instead they remain Class A and maybe an option for Bantam players...

Re: Arizona Youth Hockey vs MN

Does anyone know how they run youth hockey in the Phoenix area? We are moving this summer from the Twin Cites. My son played at the PW B1 level this last year as a goalie. It looks like they have B, A, and AAA and then have U12 for Pewee. It's confusing because there is also Elite, Major, Minor, an...

Not enough room for all the kids. No Biondi. Usual see Luedtke listed on things before Docter, here it is Doc on 1st team and Josh on 2nd.
