Re: KRACH Ranking - January 5

The SoS numbers are quite different than how the Krach ratings have been presented in the past (they used to vary from about 20 to 100). Are they being done differently? Or were the old ones normalized in some non-obvious way? I realized that too but there are very limited options or parameters whe...

KRACH Rankings 2019-20

It appears ghshockeyfan is no longer running the KRACH rankings for girls so I went ahead and ran them. Thanks to Dr Matt Stevens for hooking me up with the software! All game results come directly from the Girls Hockey Hub; includes all games through Sat, Jan 4, 2020. This only involves games betwe...

Re: NFHS Rule Book

It's not about a specific rule, per se, I find it rather odd that the rule book is not available for anyone to see the rules. Almost like they're being secretive about it. Sure, it may just be a few bucks to purchase but why charge at all, especially to download a pdf version? Every other league/org...

NFHS Rule Book

Is the official NFHS hockey rule book available anywhere online? I wanted to look up a rule only to find that, unless I'm missing it somewhere, the only way to view the rule book is to pay for it. Why would the rule book not be readily (free) available for any player/coach/parent to view?

Re: Pre-season scrimmage schedules

I haven't seen actual game schedule for all teams but Eden Prairie is hosting scrimmage fest tomorrow morning from roughly 8:00am-12:00pm at Eden Prairie CC. Earlier games are JV, later games are Varsity or mix of V/JV.

Teams involved:
Eden Prairie
Chaska/Chan
Shakopee
St Paul United

Re: Way to early summer games...

Another pst looked at rosters from the weekend most of the kids from state champs were there. All of Cathedral's best players were on the roster (Perbix, Smith, Hiltner, Motzko, etc) but I don't understand how they lose to Mounds View 4-1. Mounds View then got crushed by Forest Lake 10-2 in the sem...

Re: Way to early summer games...

Entering your statement in the kfan pst tournament So I’m thinking Duluth Denfeld my be in a position this year to take the top spot in the City of Duluth hockey teams. East is the king until dethroned. And I wouldn't make determinations from a summer tourney by these results. Many teams missing gu...

I heard the other day of a high profile goalie that was shopping around late this spring. Now plans to make a move from a small powerhouse to a big powerhouse on the west side.

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

I'd go top 32 AA. Play a super weekend in 2 or 4 locations. Top 8 advance to State. If you go to 32 you're starting to get into Tier I/Tier II territory where AA is too watered down, IMO. I feel like winning the AA tourney with only 16 in AAA still feels like an accomplishment and less like a bigge...

Re: New State Tournament Format (or my day dream)

I LOVE this idea. Obviously it'll never happen as it makes too much sense but it solves a lot of current issues, most notably: No more 1 vs 8 / 2 vs 7 blowouts that don't do either teams any good Gives some actual hope for those perennial mid- to crummy-AA teams at having some postseason success A s...

The issue was consistency, if you call one cross check then you should probably call the other.
I agree, they missed the cross check on Schultz in front of the net but that doesn’t excuse Hillman’s retaliation penalty.

Re: Eden Prairie vs Blaine

Except when the officials call the game so badly that the official calling a penalty initially signals a tripping infraction then has to change it to a cross check after talking with the other official. It was neither a trip or cross check Other than the Brodzinski penalty, what was so bad? You can...

Re: Section Hypocrisy

I have it on good authority that the 4A playoff games will not be at Woog after this year. It's a giant pain in their butt to remove all South St Paul banners in the arena and they don't want to continue to do it every year.

Co-op or no co-op, there are lots of AA schools that get their butts kicked every year in the 1st round of sections but are there due to enrollment sizes. If MAML is allowed to opt down due to competitive disadvantage, why not St Francis, Dodge County, Coon Rapids, N St Paul, Shakopee, East Ridge to...

OK, one more... :D Faceoff after penalty in the defensive zone of the offending team, a la NHL and NCAA. Penalizes penalties just a bit more.

One more... change the rule back to faceoff at center ice for an errant whistle by the official. A team should not be penalized due to official's error. e.g. the official blows play dead for icing forgetting that that team is short-handed. Under current rules, the team on the power play is penalized...

Tally another for a request to change offsides in PeeWee and 12U to tagup/delayed offsides. I like it the way it is in Squirts and 10U as a lot of those kids are still learning offsides but in the older group it just delays the game too much. 90% of offsides are accidental and not where a skater bea...
