I'm assuming the plan is still in place to get redistricting done by the time our grandkids are done playing?

So to get redistricting by 2010-2011, MH still needs to get a firm proposal, get it communicated, get it discussed, get it voted upon at all levels over various objections and get a plan for implementation. And do it all in the one remaining off-season meeting?

That sounds like your team budget, not the association budget.

No question you can get rid of mandatory fundraisers and charge higher fees. But the difference between the net and gross on most good fundraisers is pretty modest so its not like your saving much by just paying cash. Most use the fundraisers/gambling money to subsidize association-owned indoor/outd...

HD41 - why would you and other parents come to the conclusion that the fundraising money is not spent on the kids? I suspect your association has financials available to any member that wants to spend the time to look them over. I also suspect that if the association paid to print out financials for...

Absent MH oversight, associations will cut deals with the privates to "host" bantam teams so they can jump to the front of the line for their available ice. Letting a private school with its own rink leverage its ice for a "host" association is crappy. There are plenty of associa...

Is there a reason why someone doesn't just post the proposal as opposed to the "contact your district director" advice? I wonder why this information is not freely shared.

Why will Lakeville have better competition? Is there going to be a metro-only district 8 group?

I didn't understand Elliott's post about District 8 and 4 looking like District 9.

from another thread: To that end the DD in two meetings and some emails have a proposal for redistricting. Districts 11, 12 & 16 would have little or no change. 2 new districts would be added and balance would be achieved amongst the remaining and 2 new districts in terms of travel and strength....

In high school most schools pick a varsity team over 5 grade levels. Most high school teams do not look anything like the youth teams. You just need a two to four good kids per grade to fill a varsity roster.

Long ago, MH decided to have a "community based" model as opposed to a "club team" model. It is no secret that a handful of "communities" have such large youth numbers that they are on par with club teams. They win almost every district play-off at every level. They reg...

I'm not sure, but that seems like a poor attempt at sarcasm. IMO, implementing a new plan a year and a half down the road IS the near future. I wouldn't expect something to be ready to be implemented by the coming season. But based on what Elliot just said, if re-districting DID have a chance to be...

Actually, from what I understand (and have heard from our District Director) is that this is NOT "beating a dead horse" as you say, but that re-districting is very much a possibility to happen in the near future. We will continue at the April meeting with the expectation that our plan wil...

Any word on when re-districting might occur? I believe that in order to redistrict you need approval from the Minnesota Hockey board, which includes all the district directors. Some of these directors would have their positions eliminated, and/or would be combined into districts with other existing...

I don't get it. Why would Woodbury and CG suddenly need 3 new sheets? Same number of hockey players, just 33% will wear a different color jersey. The high schools, who practice during icetimes that youth associations won't use, will take slightly more ice for games (assuming the girls teams can even...

The unfortunate thing is that there is no one clear cut answer to this, if you combine to make the teams stronger you have to cut kids who want to play. I have to disagree here. Single high schools with more than enough kids for one team but less than two teams (no JV schools) often have to cut kid...

Final QRF from last year. I don't think you can jump up radically unless you get a huge infusion of talent, but you can certainly jump down by losing to grad/Thoroughbreds. On paper, I would say EP, AHA, Roseville and BSM lost too much to be top 10. 1 Eden Prairie (26-1-1) 142.3 (lost everyone) 2 Gr...

How come there is so much youth talent in Wayzata, but they never win at the high school level? Having 175 kids playing hockey in two grades, when you play 3 lines equally and field only one A team, helps you win plenty of A and B1 youth tournament trophies. In high school the coaches will play the...

Not sure why you want to leave, but if your association does not offer A level hockey, and you don't want to her to play peewees, you can try to get a waiver to play for a nearby association. You can also ask your board for permission to play up to U14's if that is an option that helps. Whatever you...

heard Edina is going with 2 squirt A teams but they will NOT be balanced (top 15 on one team and 16 thru 30 on a second team).
Can field 2 teams at the same level, but not unequal teams, per D6 rules.

With these numbers there should not be a problem to combine all and then field 2 teams at the A level. These numbers put them ahead of Rochester, Mankato,Duluth and very close to Lakeville, associations that field more than one team at each A level and have more than one high school with in distric...
