Re: Hockey Day in MN

Anyone making the drive to Bemidji for all or part of the day? Elliot, looks like the metro boys will need to pack an extra layer on their trek north. -4 forecasted Saturday up in God's country. I know right? Those western suburban boys have it so easy the temperature never reaches below zero and t...

Re: Eden Prairie 218 hockey swing, 1/11 and 1/12

Doesn't Tonka have a lot more successes ahead of them before they start getting the Edina treatment? Aside from last year they've been hard luck kids since the mid-80's. :P

Re: When will Minnetonka's first loss come?

I wish Tonka would have gotten the Chaska team of late in the regular season rather than the one a week back. Not that they were an easy out but Chaska seems to finally playing like the team most of us expected them to be. Hopefully if they meet in sections Goldsworthy will have them well prepped an...

Wouldda been lots more fun if BSM would’ve stayed outta the box. BSM is playing better, was nice to give Tonka some challenge.
iirc it was one of the rare games where Tonka had fewer penalties than their opponent and made BSM pay going 2 for 4 while killing both of BSM's PP opportunities.

As good as their defense is if they keep taking as many penalties as they have it will eventually come back to bite them and if it does hopefully before sections start.

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A

The other dynamic to that SS is you make the AA tourney a much more metro based event. Some may say who cares. I’d say a lot of the charm of the Tourney comes from the diversity of teams size wise and geography wise. The change you are describing would have a significant impact on tne AA event as w...

Re: Games Saturday 12/22

My first time seeing Chaska this year and I thought Pitlick was tremendous and there are some nice complimentary players as well. Didn't notice Koster at all which is fine in the defensive zone but bad when on offense. The waived off goal for the high stick was the right call. The CHBS announcers sa...

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A

Here's a dumb idea? Force all schools except privates (who can choose) to be in A or AA based upon enrollment. By putting some of the stronger small schools back into A it would improve the A tournament and make it a bit more interesting. How many non-private small schools make the tournament each y...

Here’s this week’s effort:

1. Minnetonka (7-0)
Just one game this week, and it shouldn’t be one that has them sweating too much.
This week: Tues vs. Bloomington Jefferson
They also play this Sat @ Chaska.

Re: AA Rankings for 12/16/18

Yeah, agreed. Sample size too small as of yet. Maybe current stats are reflection of current roster/styles of play...? Does Tonka have bit less scoring punch on its # Tonka's Top 6 F have a total of 49 points and 60 total for all F, the Top 6 F in scoring for Edina have 51 points and 62 for all F s...

Re: AA Rankings for 12/16/18

How do the SOS's compare to date? Going back to the well? The only link I could find (MyHockey) has EHS 92.84 with 4 games played and MHS 91.03 for 5 GP a difference of 1.9%. Now Rankings has no data yet. Certainly not respective to the gaps noted previously. Yeah, agreed. Sample size too small as ...

Re: AA Rankings for 12/16/18

No question? Tonka's Top 6 defenders have 35 points between them and a team (Glockner really as he's played all the minutes so far) 0.86 GAA and 0.947 SV% on 114 shots allowed. Edina's Top 6 have 25 points and a team GAA of 1.43 and 0.923 SV% on 127 shots allowed. Couldn't compare +/- as the number...

You would have to ask the MSHSL. I’m just saying this is where it is going. You heard it here first 🤓 These are just my thoughts. The MSHSL is going to whatever they need to, to protect their product. They don’t want Minnesota high school to become a farm system for the entire country/state. It wou...

Re: The Hermantown Thread

Wouldn’t it be interesting if high school hockey in Minnesota took on a very different look. Example. Most teams (the good ones) had 3-4 out of state/school district boys added to the rosters each year. Is this verifiable? And by those 3-4 were these short-term or long-term adds? For instance Tonka...

Seen all 5 of 'top 5 play' this early season... I would put FLIP Edina & MG! Not only based on logic but the basic eye test, whereas three observations are clear (IMHO); 1. I simply do not see aggressive checking in all zones, all game. That relentless pursuit & grit is not there...yet. Mtka, Andov...
