Warroad has had strong HS teams, but I don't think it's because they're developing the players in their youth program. I'm guessing most everyone knows how they do it.

I like that. Then Guentzel can move in as Head Coach after Blais retires or moves on. Would be great for the program for many years!

This is a terrible idea. Conditioningsucks hit it on the head. This does nothing but create all-star Bantam teams. For the 2% of people out there that have wanted this...move if you don't like your association!! If the name on the front of the jersey says "Edina" (just an example), then the families...

Roseau's tournament is fantastic. 16 teams, many in the top 15 of the State. Great rink and people. Fun trip for the kids.

They may be beatable, but I find it more interesting that the Roseau kids got thumped early in the season, but have caught up and passed most at year end. We in the cities can learn a lot from the Roseaus of the world. Instead of having tryouts in September, why not let kids finish their fall activ...

Ness hasn't been whoopin anything or anybody since he left the Northwoods competition heck he has 1 assist in his last 9 games. [-X Roseau is a one line team, they will shorten the bench more then any other team. I think they will lose in the second round. So because they shorten the bench, that me...

I'm extremely glad that more HS kids are staying. Nothing against the NTDP, but HS hockey in Minnesota is special and these kids should experience it all the way through their Senior year.

Are we really upset that some teams always dominate? We should probably throw Roseau in there too. Their youth teams are always very good. They too should be forced to field two A teams to make it fair for the less priviledged. Not a good comparison. A small assoc. has at most 30 - 35 go out for th...

HockeySLP good post. With the numbers that some of these Associations have that makes sense. Why not give more players the "A" experience.

2 things need to be done to keep things from getting to "political" IMO. First the District coaches need to be rotated, they shouldn't get more than 2 years in the position...this will ensure that you don't get the same bias each season. The other is that it must be MANDATORY that ALL players get as...

Watchdog, I completely agree with you. Roseau beat Edina in the scrimmage in the last minute or so - pretty even game up until the end. Edina beat Wayzata in the last 30 seconds due to a penalty. Wayzata beat Elk River by one, but the game was pretty evenly matched. Wayzata lost to Roseau by severa...

Who is going to be Peewee A State Champs?

If you take a look at the Roseau tournament scores it could be a number
of teams that take the title. Elk River, Roseau, Wayzata, Edina and Chaska all have a shot if they can get there.

I agree Go Gophs Guy...well stated post. Why do we let the kid that doesn't put in the time, his/her parents whine, have the same playing time. That is NOT the way it works in life, should some slacker get a promotion just because he/she shows up for work, but doesn't work hard? No. I know it's just...

I gauged the response to reflect the lunacy of the question. To be serious, look at the Machine and Blades rosters and you have most of them there. I would change that "most" statement to "some". Take a look around the state and not just in the metro. There are a lot of really good 97 players who d...

I hope they stay with Ankeny who has shown loyalty to his team. I'd like to see the coaches draw a line in the sand with these types of transfers and play the kids that have come up through the system.
