Tough Call

HH,

That's a difficult question to answer. They are a very talented team, and probably deeper than any team we have played this year. They were able to run 4 lines and 3 sets of D at us the whole night. The game was divided into 2 25 min halves, and I felt like although the score didn't show ...

Game

peterpuck,

Thanks for asking, and she is doing well. It was pretty scary though. You never want to send an athlete home in an ambulance. Luckily no serious damage was done, but the player most likely will not be around for the playoffs, which will make things tough for AHA, but we haven't had...

School First

Nutz,

I would recommend that you make your school choice based on academics, and not activities. I know sports are very important to families, but I would say that if any coach/program tells you that they can get your kid to that level ....beware. There are plenty of off-season opportunities ...

Eddie- Way off!

E. Shore, I'm disappointed by your comments. GHS stayed on this board solely to promote the game, and to make sure that people would speak positively about the sport, and the girls who work hard to play the game to the best of their ability!

If anyone mistook his comments about players who he...

NP

Nice win for NP, I think the solid early schedule has helped that team get over the hump. This is a quality win for that squad.

Re: Benilde-St. Margarets

I haven't seen SSM play, but know the caliber of players they have. Is the scrimmage in SLP & do you know the time?

I was very impressed with BSM this week. They have good team speed move the puck well, and seem to be playing some solid hockey right now. The have some good physical defense, a...

Re: Strib?

Brookyone,

The PP used to call and get stat info on Sunday's, now they often won't even take box scores from teams in the west metro, to the point where I stopped calling/sending them our info. It's too bad the girls can't get more consistent coverage.

Re: evaluation

Boblee,

Ahmen, you are right on the money. Let's just say there may have been some playful ribbing on the bus ride home, on how we seemed to put more than a few marks on her jersey emblem! Bad news for us we have Windhorst tonight, hopefully our aim won't be the same.

Re: Strib?

It seems to be so far that the only place to get this is at their sports huddle site. They haven't been getting stats up to date the way they have in the past, not even consistently on their web-site.

GHS, thanks for positng this!

Good Points

I agree the northern teams are often underrated, and don't get the pub the deserve. I hope I didn't make it sound like I was down playing either team. We got exactly what we were looking for this weekend, 2 good games, some good lessons learned, and a great hockey experience. We played in two great ...

Re: Grand Rapids Greenway Game

Boblee,

I don't know that injuries were the difference, every team deals with injuries and illness over the course of the year. I would never make excuses like that. The teams that are rated the highest are the one who have the depth to perform consistently even when faced with injuries and i...

Grand Rapids Greenway Game

First I want to say that I was really impressed with Emily Erickson of the Lightning. I had a chance to coach her a couple of years back, and what a great player, and class act young lady she is. Although it lead to our demise, I was very happy to see her play at a very high level on Saturday.
<b...

tough call

I would say this is one of the most difficult things you face as a coach. No matter what you do this is not a good situation for either team. First off, I would hate to see this thread turn into coach bashing

RW Morris is a good coach and runs a quality program. I know when we played them a c...

I've worked with Andy, who invited me out to a couple of Elite U14 camps he ran. He may lack in experience, but he knows the game well, and the kids respond to his coaching style. Chuck will be missed dearly, but I think Andy will do a great job!

I'm also glad to see that Chris Erickson final...
