Not every student attending a high school/prep school hockey factory will win a college scholarship; most will need to rely on academics. With the jury still out in college admission officers' minds, will this trend harm those in this boat? This assumes that a college education is still the primary...

7. St. Paul United - David Cole Any word on where he's from? He was a long time assistant at Blake with coaching legend Brano Stankovsky. Since then has been working in Orono with youth, and was most recently hired to help out at EP. He has a great hockey background, and is great with the kids, and...

From 2007-2010 Section 4AA won 3 State Championships. The year they didn't win it the representative from 4AA took eventual champion EP into 2 overtimes before losing 2-1, and then won the 3rd place game. During that 4 year span the section was 11-1 at state and the conventional wisdom said the sec...

I see a few more new women coaches than previous years which is a good thing in my opinion. There should be even more in the future. While I agree that more women coaches are good for the game in theory, I think we are looking for the quick fix to a long term problem. I have seen too many good fema...

I noticed that the Russia trip info has been deleted from the MGHCA web site. If anyone did fill out an application and mailed it to the address provided by MGHCA it would be very prudent to double check with the contact listed on the Mn Hockey web site to make sure your application was forwarded o...

Sorry but not impressed with Div III paying $40k in tuition.... If you go D3 and pay 40K then the kid hasn't taken care of their number one priority and that is to perform well in the classroom!!!!!! Parents need to understand that kids who are strong in the classroom, have a good sense of communit...

Did anyone see the number of kids going to private vs. public in the media recently. I believe the MSHSL apps/paperwork were quoted to be highly in favor of privates (I bet they always are though?), and so my guess is that it would follow that the privates will be the big winners of this one last r...

A big problem with at least one of the above situations is that the AD totally caved to a couple of idiot parents. I think that we are thinking of the same program, and if that is the case that is the second coach that parents have pushed out in just over 2 years. All I say to that community is goo...

I did not hear of any exempt players last year. It is my understanding that all participants have to be recommended by their HS coach to even tryout. Tryouts are not a "piece of cake." There are many (hundreds) of talented skaters who try out. findme is correct - There are no exempt players anyone ...

I think the closest it has been was the first time it was voted on 2 years back, I think it has less support each year. I think the consensus was to see how it worked with the boys this year and re-visit next year.

Agreed this has happened in the past, but the voting is done prior to the championship game. So if the winning coach wins they have won this award prior to taking the ice for the championship game.

IMO this class might be better & deeper than the 2006 class:

Seeler, Green, Holmes, and Fence should be considered as well.
