Question

ghs or anyone else,

I was wondering have you ever seen any stats on turnover in Boys Hockey coaches? I know we talk that 20-25% seems like a lot, but I would anticipate that is pretty normal for any PT job that requires the time commitment that coaching does. It would be interesting to see if...

One more

I probably should add that USA hockey is doing a Level 5 training this year. This is a little unusual as they typically only offer this every other year. It will be in Rochester NY, and they also have an amazing list of speakers.

<a href="http://www.usahockey.com/c...

On a more serious note

There is lots of good advice here, and I think it's best to get involved as much as you can. Learn from other coaches, and be around the game as much as possible. Just because didn't grow up playing the game doesn't mean that you can't be involved and coach. Each coach has to know their strengths an...

It starts early

NN,

My best coaching advice is to have thick skin. You haven't even started down the coaching road yet, and you have your first doubter/heckler! Enjoy these moments. If you love hockey, and can take the abuse, it is the greatest game on earth to coach and be a part of. I say you're off to a g...

Wow

That's right, that north team was something special. I, like you, remember looking at the Phase 2 rosters and thinking no one would be able to come close to the SW team. There were some very good players on that squad. I also didn't recognize a single name on the north roster, but a good few of them...

I agree 100%, and I don't see why it is so hard for too groups who care about the development of the players to get together and make these things easier for parents/athletes to figure out what to get their kids involved in during the off-season.

There just seems to be too many roadblocks to ...

I'm not sure if this is the case, but there sometimes are few postings that never make it MSHSL page. Development

GHS,

I agree there are plenty of opportunities for these players. I can only speak for the coaches association stuff and not the MN/USA hockey events. The one thing I would like to add, is the purpose of the Fres/soph camp is strictly for development. It's intended to reach the kids that may ...

Re: Minnesota Hockey Advanced 15 Summer Development Camp

From what I heard last year it was a well run camp. With lots of DI coaches involved in the week long camp. It sounds like it is a good oppurtunity if a player is selected to participate.

They feel that seeding will always put them in a low seed. There are ...

TC ch 45 is showing the games, but I don't think any of the Thursday games will be televised. It is my understanding that TV coverage begins for all games at Xcel on Friday, and Championship games on Sat.

The paper today says in the notes that Hutch won, but they did get the box score right. This seems to happen on a semi-regular basis with that paper. I know at least two or our scores have been reversed this year. Is it really that tough to get the scores right? They have never seemed to have this m...
