Duluth did beat Elk River 1-0.. Paige Turner stopped 38 shots for the shutout. Most of Elk River's chances were created by some of the Northern Stars defense not getting the puck out of the zone (or when they did, not into farther than the red line. Haven't looked for a confirmation of the CEC/PHM g...

I won't see Saturday night's game (UMD men's hockey series with Colorado College).. which might be a good thing cause it's at Proctor's arena which is by far the coldest arena I've watched hockey in over the years.. our old Barn in Cloquet never seemed THAT cold in comparison. If Morris plays well t...

FSN HS Hockey Night, Duluth Heritage Sports Center

Unfortunately as people know, FSN has cut almost all of the remainder of it's HS Hockey Night schedule.. but they were in Duluth tonight for East/Blaine (2-2 TIE) and Denfeld/Cloquet (3-1 Denfeld win).. The East/Blaine game was easily the better game with more skill shown, while the Denfeld/CEC game...

Was checking the News Tribune online for this before heading off to bed... Junior goalie Anja Morris made 40 saves to lead Proctor-Hermantown-Marshall to a 3-1 victory over state-power Breck on Monday in high school girls hockey. Alyssa Wargin and Allison Jonas staked the visiting Mirage to a 2-0 le...

as of right now i would have to see the section this way This Section is way to close to call but in no particular order 1-3 Cloquet, Elk River, PHM 4-5 Duluth and Grand Rapids 6 Forest Lake 7 Cambridge 8 st. francis If PHM plays in front of Morris the way they did against Duluth, clearing pucks an...

A quick correction, the game winning goal for PHM was credited to Abby Fox, the News Tribune short recap mentions... not Fawcett who I had mentioned from hearing the PA. The Duluth tying goal was scored at 14:00 and answered 21 seconds later with Fox's goal.. I was guessing when mentioning 30 seconds.

PHM beat Duluth 2-1 this afternoon.. 0-0 game after 2 periods.. 8th grader Reilly Fawcett found the 5-hole from her knees on a 2 on 1 early in the third period to put PHM up 1-0.. (picture of that sometime tonight.) Frankie Bergman tied it up for Duluth on a slapshot that was off the defender's ska...

If you go to the Duluth-P/H/M game it would be great if you could post updates of scores and sog each period.

Thanks!
I wish I could but my cell is 6 years old and doesn't have internet! Really need to pick up a netbook so I can do this kind of stuff!

More 7AA Lumberjacks/Elks, Duluth/PHM

Cloquet (CEC) heads down to Elk River tonight.. hopefully someone down there posts a recap tonight.... I'll be watching basketball this time (yes, I did say that)..The Jacks should be at full strength on the blue line, I was told anyway, the final injured D is going to see how it goes coming back fr...

The Lumberjacks had short bouts of OK play, but really didn't get any help in or in front of the net. The JV goalie (sophomore) John Scheuer played well when he played in relief, giving up a goal in each period (2nd and 3rd), and showing signs of hope for the future in net. I wouldn't mind seeing hi...

I don't expect anyone will have a problem getting a seat.. and unfortunately for us in Cloquet, I don't (unfortunately for us) expect it to be less than a 4 goal deficit.. we found out the last couple weeks how this young team will improve during the season BUT still needs a lot of seasoning. I hate...

SOG are a little misleading. They overstated the shots on goal by about 10%, so they really only had about 40 shots on goal. Of those only about 35 or so were good shots on goal and of those only about 30 were from within 5 feet of the goaltender. So all in all CEC played the game the way they had ...

Cloquet (CEC) Lumberjacks' Sarah Gustafson tonight with nearly 50 saves against PHM.. diving all over the place, poke checking the puck from players in front of the net and stopping a ton of great chances. You knew she was into the game early, when she stopped a Julie Gilbert breakaway in the first ...

Well.... Lumberjacks 4 Mirage 1.. Courtney Esse hat-trick and Sarah Gustafson stopped nearly 50 (46 on the scoreboard anyway) shots in the win. CEC only had 11 shots but scored their 4 goals on those shots. She stopped so many point blank shots that her and Julia Gilbert were cracking up afterwards ...

With seeing the box-score from the CEC/Hibbing game.. it looks at least that only 1 of the 2 D that are/have been injured will be out while the other played and got an assist against Hibbing.

While that *could* happen.. many people also believed that would happen in the section final last year also. I don't believe it will be more than a 2 goal game either way, and Jessie Ryan may be back playing D as she did for 2 periods in the loss to Minnetonka on Saturday. The team would be much bet...
