Congrats! Does Pannek top the list at this point based on what's gone on in sectionals this week? Any of the 5 very deserving. I don't know that Pannek is the best player on her own team. I hope team results don't sway the results much. Pannek has a stronger supporting cast than any of the other ca...

Last time I went to a game at Ridder there was a men's hockey game, a women's hockey game AND a men's basketball game. There is plenty of parking, but you may have a bit of a walk. Hopkins and Wayzata are the same team. Great defense and solid, but not overpowering offense. To win against either all...

....note to fathers...if my memory serves me correct...every time Rux, Lucky, etc. make one of these stupid comments the team usually goes into a bit of a tailspin. Good luck! Stating that the conference championship came down to an exciting final game finish must not have upset the hockey gods or ...

...And sorry guys, but does it really matter who comes out of the section as any team is virtually guaranteed to get knocked out in their first game? Maybe by A LOT? It matters quite a lot to the team advancing to the state tournament. I'm pretty sure they will not share your opinion of their chanc...

With a 3-1 win against Edina today Eden Prairie set the table for Tuesday's Lake Conference championship game against Minnetonka on Tuesday. Last conference game of the season, winner take all, teams split in head-to-head. Couldn't be better if there was a script.

I'm so tired of this "complaint"... If you can't handle losing...don't play. If you don't want to get "blown out" then get better. If you can't get better then don't schedule games with teams that are WAY better than yours. Life (Sports) are not (and never were) intended to be fair. They were set u...

You must work for the press. The quote was "The purpose of a HS hockey team is to have kids play hockey, not win championships to bolster ticket sales." Do you disagree with that statement? If so, why?

Though the first posting mentioned Century, there are other teams who have had to deal with this issue. Dodge County for one in their last game. Players getting 6 goals or 7 assists. There is not an easy position to take a stance on here, for many of the choices on how to handle these situations do...

Re: Updated 1/22 10PM 17896

SOS (Strength-Of-Schedule) is at: http://www.bgoski.com/KRACH_SOS.htm Interesting that the Top 5 are all of the Lake Conference teams, interrupted by No. 6 BSM, and then followed by four of the South Suburban Conference teams at Nos. 7-10. Not really. Due to the nature of conference play I would ex...

Re: Inflated stats ethical? Who do u blame?

Though it makes sense to protect your top players in professional sports I don't think it really applies to youth or HS sports. The kids are on the team because they want to play. They are not resources that have to be managed. The purpose of a HS hockey team is to have kids play hockey, not win cha...

I don't think SOS is the correct statistic for adjusting scoring. Some teams win because they score a lot of goals. Some teams win because they have a stingy defense. SOS also is lacking in that the number is essentially based on ranking and is not a relative measure. I think most would agree that t...

Interesting but I guess not surprising that your SOS approach knocks out 12 of the top 15 in total points. Nice to see BSM with a failry high SOS this year. Would have been nice to see a couple more Lake Conference teams though. Have you looked at their schedule? They play every Lake conference tea...

NE/AA is essentially home schooling with and organized extra-curricular. Is it a school, no. But those who so vehemently slam NE/AA are in essence saying that home schooling should not be allowed, or at least that home schoolers should not be allowed to participate in HS athletics. I would never let...

EP wins 4-3. Scoreless after the first period. Tied 2-2 after the second. Edina never trailed until the final EP goal. Final shots on goal 24-24.

I won't say anything against a team with two EP CKarly's. Are you sure you want to invite the inevitable downturn that follows starting a thread like this? Ready for Blake to loose their next N games?

After watching BSM, I think they have the most talent, but the girls play this weaving style that keeps the puck to the outside and they don't take a lot of shots. If they fix this, and maybe they can't or don't want to, they will be pretty tough. If they have the most talent they aren't showing it...

I think that the Lake is peaking this year, as most teams will be losing some top players, particularly goalies, after this season. Still, with BSM in 6AA, it's entirely possible that only one Lake team (winner of EP/Edina) will even make it to State, so the conference will not appear nearly so dom...

The score of the EP/Breck game was very nearly the 4 to 1 that many prognosticators predicted. In the second period Breck had a goal waved off for having too many players on the ice. To add insult to injury EP scored their first goal during the subsequent power play. Tough to recover from a big swin...

I'm impressed by the efficiency of Minnesota HS hockey players. Everyone scores every time they shoot. But when looking at goalie stats where are all those extra shots coming from?
