Great game by MG knocking off Goliath. Finally an all public championship, how refreshing, no entitlement with two highly skilled community based teams Congrats EP and MG, good luck tomorrow While I too am happy to see EP and Maple Grove in the final, I fail to see how this is "refreshing". The pur...

Thank god! I feared they wouldn't have any Aney this year.

A couple weeks back I was working at the BMW plant in Munich, Germany. The gentleman I was working for has a 9 year old son who plays in goal. They regularly travel hundreds of miles to play games. Hundreds of miles for 9 year olds! He couldn't believe that most of my daughter's games are within 10 ...

I was terribly, terribly sad when the game was over, but I felt, I don't know, alive? Really alive. That's how I felt about the last game for my squad this year... My daughter played in a 3rd place game her senior year (and also lost), but I don't think she'd trade it for the world. Going downtown ...

I read last year to me Last year in which EP won conference, and it was this year 2015 that Tonka won the conference, but maybe I'm the dumb one. I was lucky enough to be at the 2AA section final this year, and I think what EPdad is referring to is the atmosphere in the building. I think it might h...

Moving one of the 6AA teams to 2AA makes sense. 6AA is no longer overloaded, 2AA is no longer a two horse race, and traditional geographic rivalries are maintained. I like it. You like it because #26 graduated. I hardly think you would have "liked it" had Tonka been in your section the last 5 years...

Really though, hockey beats every other sport in this regard. I know wrestling packs the X for the state tournament pretty well, but I think that has a lot to do with the huge variety of schools represented as opposed to the eight for hockey. If you watch football at all, neither the Bank nor the D...

MG catches a break by moving to the far weaker 5AA. I would agree that 5AA was weaker than 6AA regarding the top 3 teams in each section for 2014-15. But "far" weaker? Looking into 2015-16, Blaine is loaded for talent at the 10th grade level - 6 strong players along with a very good freshman. Cente...

and the almighty "the Blake School" fell to a much deeper, well rounded public school team. Kudos to TRF for a well deserved title. I don't know if they are deeper, but their goalie is very good. When Eden Prairie played TRF way back in December the EP girls blasted away for 53 shots on goal (and a...

Tough call?? nothing tough about that call. Williamson took a bad penalty and it cost Edina the game and a chance for a shot at a state title. To say it was a gutsy call is ridiculous. They don't come any more obvious than that. I don't understood the attitude some people have about penalties. Why ...

36 looks all giddy in his white out, too bad there are not more students here, very sparse turnout for a big school. Would have had more if day game and kids could have left school. The size of the crowd is inversely proportional to the size of the school. Day/night game is of little consequence. G...

Edina vs EP

Anyone finding fault with the current section playoff format was not at the Richfield Arena tonight. There we were witness to the finest example of playoff hockey imaginable. A gritty battle between Edina and Eden Prairie to see who would advance to the state tournament. In the end Taylor Williamson...

Re: Lake Conference Domination

During the regular season Maple Grove was 3-1 against Lake conference teams, including a 3-0 win over Wayzata. They also beat Hill Murray. The anointed went a collective 2-4 against MG this year. A losing record. I understand wanting to rub the nose of a particularly annoying MG fan in this loss, bu...

Up 7-2 in a playoff game and Tonka still can't put their 3rd or 4th line out for some experience? They must have zero confidence in those girls! Would Hopkins match their 3rd or 4th line? Nope, and at this level and point of season what would be the feel good moment you're looking for? Most likely ...

I suspect Achiever Academy played fast and loose with eligibility rules because they didn't care. Their saw little value in following MSHSL rules, all the time wanting to be the metro version of SSM. They were likely shocked that it took nearly the entire season before MSHSL was forced to take actio...

Re: Is EP This Year's Achiever Academy?

This is getting funny now. Your saying that they "cut" her to go with a backup goalie that played 1 game which was vs. East Grand Forks and chose not to take a goalie with State Tourney experience from last year and about 6 games this year! LOL ! come on..gotta be more to the story or this trails t...

Re: Is EP This Year's Achiever Academy?

Can anyone confirm that one of the EP goalies who played varsity games this year has been released/cut from the playoff roster for violations of the MSHSL Transfer Rule, and if so, how does that affect the Section Seeding and EP's eligibility for the remainder of the year? EP had three goalies all ...

You are correct , EP plays only 4 D, 6 F, and after watching Tonka game and Edina game, the top line gets lots of ice time. I think all coaches do this in tight games, based on talent. From what I obsevred EP has only 4 D and 5 forward, so understandable that in order to win games he shortens the b...

This is a discussion about a scrimmage? A scrimmage? A game without officials or penalties where the coaches randomly stop play and set up fake power plays? A game where you try out your new section roster? Yeah, read a lot into the results of a scrimmage.

The High School Coach's job is to win. That's pretty much requirement 1. Wow, that is wrong in almost every way I can think of. Playing hard to win is important, actually winning, not so much. Things happily coincide with my daughter at EP right now, but the important things she's getting from hock...
