Require 2 referees

I watched several Bantam A and B regional games this week-end. Will this be the year MN Hockey requires 2 referees for every game? Add 1 linesman for upper levels as used at high school. But from what I saw, with VERY qualified experienced referees, 1 referee is outdated and needs to be eliminated. ...

Your math is a skewed since you are only looking at the A level. When including the AA and B1 levels, it is much closer to 100% success. Under the old way, the A and B1 would be dominated by the same associations. So rework your math and provide the results. Making associations have an AA or A, but ...

Did somebody say Alex Funk isn't the reason LHS got out of Section 1A? 12 points in 3 games? And Samuelson has 1 Goal? My word. Alex Funk has proved to be a terrific HS player! Now, it is true that Section 1A is an easy road. But even St Peter-Henderson-LeSeuer-etc would have giving them all they'd ...

So looking at the PW and Bantam teams that made it to State. The AA teams read just as past years A state tournaments. The success of the "Pilot Program" shows strong at the A and B1 tournaments. Yes, there are teams from the mega associations. But the majority of the A and B1 teams at both Bantam a...

Still no question that LHS is best Class A team in Rochester! AND, no question that Alex Funk is the best player to come out of Winona in many years. 4 G's 1 A in a 6-1 game? Man that kid can fly and put the puck in the net! The Red Wing goalie was shaky in game 2 but played much better vs. West! As...

I totally agree forcing A teams to play AA teams is not right. Totally agree it is good for A and AA teams to have the ability to play each other. But there is no way to convince me that the old way was better. The idea of creating upper and lower tiers of A is really no different than the summer ho...

While I agree that FORCING A teams to play AA teams isn't logical. But many people would complain that B1 teams were not allowed to play A teams under the old system. Yes, they could get approval, but for the most part those games didn't happen often, except in "outstate" areas. And, I think under t...

I thought I did give credit to the success Princeton and North Branch, in addition to about 25 other programs that have shown success at the District level? I viewed Princeton's game schedule and the scores would suggest they beat opponents in the 2nd half of the season that had beaten them the 1st ...

Another Pilot Program success story! Princeton got better playing a mixed AA/A schedule and pulled off a 4OT semi and 1 goal final!

Looks like North Branch Pee-Wees go to regions for 1st time in their history too!

Several regions have new faces too!

MN Hockey created this monster. (Again the AA-A program is fine, but MN Hockey screwed this part of it up) Coaches categorize games as MUST WIN and don't matter. The coach was right, this game didn't matter. Due to MN Hockey screwing up the South regional, smart coaches will figure a way to get the ...

Starting line up

And starting at Guard, from Apple Valley Minnesota...
At the other Guard, from Stillwater Minnesota...
Starting at Center, from Gary Indiana...

The AA South region thing was stupid by MN Hovkey.

But the FORMAT is an error with the District's #1 seed playing a #2 and the District's #2 playing a #3. That is just a silly error of logic.

The transfer rule stopped the school hopping. (For educational purposes of course) Open enrollment for athletics is very real. Tying sports participation to residence location would eliminate the transfer rule for 99% of the students. For instance, one can live in Eden Prairie but in the Minnetonka ...

I say MSHSL should adopt a very simple rule. If you don't live in the bussing zone for a school, you are exempt from sports. (i.e. if you live in Winona, you can't play for Lourdes. If you live in Rosemount, you can't play for BSM, etc.) Then we can see who open enrolls for the education.

Best suggestion yet! I'd just say as it is not logical that #4 seeds will be the odds on favorite to advance to State.

I agree! #4 seeds should not be rewarded nor should the South region which only has 4 teams. Is MN Hockey Board discussing that fix or no??

3rd place team should have the option of staying in East or moving to South. Or format should have been altered to combine both regions to send top 4 seeds to State.

Would almost seem like it is not considered an error in the Board's mind?

Funk and Samuelson are very gifted players, as were many of the past leaders. But just seems to me very few of them played as 9th graders...

Since Lourdes won't go AA,common opponents comparison is all we have. And so far supports Mayo is the better team this year. Century has been in the past also. But if they played and LHS lost, they'd have had a bad night, didn't show up to play, need best 2 of 3 series, etc.

Mayo knew full well what they were up against with Eastview and didn't "take them lightly". So Eastview has to be top 10 team to be taken seriously? About 70 teams wish they were in the top 10! And I did see Spaniol's comment. Didn't know he dressed 22 players? It's easy to dismiss a loss as "a bad ...
