It's not all about winning at the AAA level. It's a business. If a player doesn't get any playing time for a certain team, he won't re-up the next year, and the AAA team will be out cash. It's simple, guys. You pick a player, you play him. Otherwise you refund part of his $$. Exceptions can be made ...

How strong would WI association hockey be if they weren't able to hop across the border and play MN teams? I think AAA hockey would cause the demise of town hockey as we know it. Adding the extra AA level has already exposed the lack of depth in many associations hitherto thought as strong. Having A...

Our association had to adopt a policy a couple of years ago mandating equal ice time, with exceptions for the higher levels during the playoffs/latter periods of games. All teams have an overall playing time target that each player has to meet. IMO, if you're on the team, you should play a regular s...

Wow, that's incredible. Roo must be really fast, eh?
even more incredible, two of his goals were scored a second apart!

Beat the old NHL record set by Nels Stewart which was 4 seconds.

new info on the situation (I wasn't there). Turns out the AA team barely beat a Tonka B2 team early in the Tourney, so perhaps they weren't playing way underneath their level. BTW, not all of Canada is a slave to the AAA system. Toronto/Golden Horseshoe teams are where the vast majority of AAA teams...

MN equivalent to Ontario 99 Bantam AA

Ran into a 99 AA Thunder Bay team on the weekend that was playing in a Bantam B2 Tourney. They destroyed the competition, including a 8-0 finals win against a B2 team that was also racking up wins by uneven scores. I always find the Ontario system a bit confusing, and i know the level of competition...

Talent in Edina might be diluted. Having two A teams and 6 B teams will do that.

Are you sure about the Braemar figure. It was less than half that the year before (2011). Maybe that's with all the new construction written in ?

I don't see Prior Lake being so strong in PW. I think most of their talent has moved up to Bantam.

Has Lakeville S. lost that much talent?

About 7-8 years ago. Now that I think of it, I knew another non-hockey athlete who went to Princeton and was on the rowing team. The way I remember it is that they got no financial break at all, but some consideration academically. In other words, his marks were very good, but not enough to distingu...

Most Ivy League student athletes don't pay a dime for school. They're actually getting a much better deal from rich alumni than most are getting with partial scholarships at other schools. My limited experience (knew parent of kid who played for Harvard) says you're wrong. Said parent worked butt o...

they'll still be decent, but lost one of their big guns to Shattuck. A move in who made the team is nowhere near the same quality. The same group (more or less) was mediocre two years ago in PWAA. For Edina, that is. Next year's team should be very good. Having said all that, i wonder how good this ...

There is no right or wrong answer. It depends on the talent level within the association. One would think that the hockey people within their own association would know more about what talent they have available than a random poster on this forum. Waconia chose to have a PWB2 team as their lowest le...

Speaking as someone who has moved in from outside MN but has been involved in MN hockey for about 5 years, I would have to say I have been Impressed by the quality of MN hockey. In general, I would say that MN hockey emphasizes puck skills and skating, which is a good thing. I would say that grit an...
