With how much Edina loses, they could perhaps be the favorite of 2AA
Maybe. There will be a new crop of young'uns coming on for Edina. At least two good new Dmen. One will be a freshman... he is something special. I think he could've played this year.

I know there is a lot of people that want coach Plante to move is team to AA but interestingly Plante feels his program does not have the depth yet to make the switch despite that fact that have given teams like Eden Prairie a battle. I think Hermantown could challenge East but not sure if they cou...

Giles has done a great job working with the youth and being an important part of their development. In my eyes it is not a coincidence that Edina started going to state again once those kids that were mites and squirts in 1999 and 2000 became Varsity players. I'm curious as to why this viewpoint ha...

One off the wall suggestion, borrowed from British Soccer. How about the top three(or two, or four) teams in A move up to AA the next year, and the bottom three ( or whatever) move down to A. It would certainly give the third place game in A some consequence. I will say that you can't go just off yo...

Sometimes it's screwed up by inattention rather than trying to rig the results in their favor. The Woodbury Rumble BB1 setup had two four team pools. One pool had four teams that were stronger than all of the other teams in the other pool. Thing is, Woodbury themselves stuck themselves in the better...

Alternating between both can be good. Being "the man" can be a great experience, as everyone is going after you, and it is good experience dealing with the pressure involved in having to bring it every night in order for your team to do well. Having said that, if i had to make a choice for developme...

Some players aren't cut out for academics, and have trouble getting through HS, let alone college. For those, Major Junior is a sensible option, if they've got the talent.

Obviously, they drafted the top 17 for the Black. Three other associations that I know of that have two BB1 teams, Wayzata, Minneapolis, and Edina, have teams that are reasonably close in talent. While their records can be somewhat different, it's nowhere near the discrepancy between the two ER team...

I'm in favor of open tryouts. Makes it harder to justify bad picks, though it still happens. I think the Edina Bantams in general are going to have a tougher time in general due to talent leaving and puzzling player decisions. AA team will be OK due to one spectacular first year talent (IMO he's goo...

Ben Foley, the senior defenseman for the Hornets plays football. I think he might actually be the captain. I believe one of the few freshman on the Varsity football team is also likely to make the Varsity hockey team, as he is one of the uber talented Edina hockey players. I did hear that he might'...

Here are YHH's final AAA rankings. Any comments? I for one think the 5th place team in '01 is out of place. They finished 4th in the open division of the Caribou Cup. There are two IE Black teams. Maybe the one in the Open division was the weaker one. Some of the rankings are bogus because tourname...

I prefer the community based model, but I do wish there was more choice when it comes to HS age. It's either play for your team, or pay 15K+( there's that amount again) to get him on a private HS team. Hockey has really changed from the Blue collar game my father used to play. It has changed, but n...

I was in Chicago talking to some parents last season who had kids on the LA Jr Kings Tier 1 team. What was enlightening to me was the cost. It was $12k-$14k per season to play. Add to that the travel expenses and typical extras. The shortest distance they traveled for a game was over 100 miles. Lot...

Probably two at least of the second years will make HS. It's the top end first years coming in that will make or break their BAA chances this year. One or two might actually be good enough to make the HS, and there are rumors that there might be some more going to privates ( I.e. Shattuck). Still sh...
