Maybe...just maybe...a high school team who plays A (and in their defense they are not doing anything wrong)....but just maybe the youth teams should only be allowed to play what the high school does. You play A in high school your youth teams can only go as high as A. Would be impossible to enforc...

Good to see new coaches at Greenway and I-Falls, hopefully they will continue to improve their programs. As far as 7A, I haven't seen much that would change any of my predictions from last March, except that Hermantown may be even better than I thought. With 6 players on Team North and another 3 (S...

Seems to me a much better time frame to ask for nominations would be at the end of the year. Tough to scout players during the season if they aren't nominated until the end of the year. The Minnesota High School Hockey off-season is very conflicting(confusing). For me, you see the same schools ever...

This is a walk-on offer according to GopherPuckLive. Hopefully Curtiss can earn some ice time and scholarship $$. Great young man and family. Is it common that hockey players can walk on and tryout for a D1 hockey program. I assumed it happened all the time. Walk ons are recruited. It really isn't ...

Congrats to Simonson. Nice showing for both him and the Magicians. Btw, not to disagree, but this year I think NAHL players gathered roughly 230 NCAA commitments, with about 125 of those accepting full or partial scholarships to D1 schools - an all time record total for the NA on both counts. Grand...

These rosters are exactly why this league is becoming a joke. No I don't have a son that tried out or even in high school. Way to many average underclassmen. The league has lost its focus on trying to keep seniors from leaving early. If I am a high end senior like Boesser or Swaney this year why wo...

Re: Elite League

1) agree with Sats81 on his comment "How can this surprise anyone?" 2) Additional thoughts on teams: - the 80/20 rule applies to this league: 28 MNHS hockey teams out of 150+ teams (~20%) represent 96 players out of a total of 120 spots (80%). - Team North is 80% made up of players from 3 schools 3...

Take video of game an YouTube it

As most people know, I film/work for the Lumberjack hockey team of Cloquet/Esko/Carlton during the season. Durin the off-season, I am available to do this for hockey or any other sport in high school or youth sports. I charge $99 per event. You can check out my work on YouTube (ken Niven) channel or...
