In addition....while the coming class of '17 will be even better than this year's team based on their performance at the bantam and peewee levels, there's a drop off in the talent of the couple of classes after that--again based on performance at the youth levels. I see that you agree that Hermanto...

Hermantown has gutted the Twig program. Many of the Twig parents (Pike Lake & Saginaw area) wrestle with the difficult decision of moving schools by the fourth grade in fear that their kid will get left behind in hockey. Yes, this is not recruiting, but sad that as a society we have become so obses...

Where did you read that I said it was closed? What I did say is that the school is full and it can be tough to get in. I'd say 97.8 % is just about full would you not? I also said that, with the closing of Central, anybody in the Kenwood and Duluth Heights area would be crazy not to consider Herman...

I think the "recruiting" bit is a little old. Many of the top public schools recruit. They just use a different name for it and call it "open enrollment" Look inside Edina, Lakeville North, Grand Rapids. How many of those kids played on their towns squirt teams growing up? I'm sure many did but I'm...

Maybe after Plante retires and a couple of other schools win championships people will stop complaining about Hermantown. By "people" do you mean Mike McGraw and Lou Nanne? You know, two of the people that are paid to be TV analysts for the tourney? Are they the complainers you're referring to? All...

Yes, it is a no-brainer. I get that you're asking an honest question, but this "middle of the pack" idea has been used by Hermantonians as an excuse for a while. My response to that would be "Should Hermantown wait to opt up until they are top 3 in AA every year?" Here's a list of the teams the Herm...

Re: 2016-17 top teams?

Who will make a run next year? Eden Prairie, Stillwater and Grand Rapids have tons of young players coming back. If Middlested stays then these three could be contenders along with who? Holy Family? BSM? Hill Murray? Edina? Mtka? Wayzata? Who are the way too early favorites next year? It's always i...

Re: Bemidji vs GR

Why does everyone say it stinks when 7AA has to play 8AA in QF's? What would the forum response be if 2AA had to play 6AA in the QF's? Would that stink too? 😢 Did you like the movies "Miracle" or "Hoosiers"? People love an underdog story. In general, the northern teams are always considered...

Seems to me that the A champs not only beat the AA champs but also shut out the AA third place team and had their only loss come to AA fifth place. You can rip Hermantown however you want, but you can't deny they had a great team. Agreed, you can't deny they had a great team, but you can rip Herman...

Maybe its because there a small school- and won't have this type of team always. Personally I think Duluth Marshall made a mistake opting up and might not be in tournament for a very long time. Marshall got the stones to opt up along with all the others who do and are respected Hermantown is a fine...

It seems you are only focused on what is best for your team, but try to hide behind what is best for hockey. There are so many variables in having a successful program, such as cost, ice time, parental support, community support, facilities and coaching. People were upset at Warroad a few years ago...

So, these communities should recruit to get better? I don't think you understand the dynamics in some of these inter-city or suburban schools. I don't believe that you have to make the state tournament to have a successful season. It's definitely nice, and a team goal, but for many A and AA teams i...

4 goal lead heading into the 3rd. There is absolutely, positively no way Hermantown could blow this lead. It would be impossible for them to lose the game now.

Re: Class A Championship: Breck vs. Hermantown

Do the Hawks break the skid, or do we see a 7-peat? I personally think Hermantown would crush EP and/or Wayzata. This team is deep, fast, physical, and determined. Scary good....... I don't think they would crush them, but I would pick them to beat either of those teams. Hermantown already beat Way...

You make some good points. People said two class hockey would kill the tournament. If schools can opt up every 2 years, why can't schools opt down to be at competitive levels. Is the AA level fair for Mpls, outstate coops, communities like St Louis Park,Brooklyn Park etc. Do they have a chance of m...

It would be interesting to see what the A tournament would look like if schools had to play in their classification by enrollment? I would think this would increase the interest and attendance in the A tournament. Why would this be bad? Sure, if BSM, HM, STA, HF, GR, Bemidji, etc. were in A along w...

Wayzata vs EP in the AA championship. Are they not the to biggest schools in mn? 3,000 + students. Not fair, they should move up to the USHL!
