YHH Squirt B State Tournament

What happened to the information on the Squirt B State Tournament that I believe YHH was sponsoring? I couldn't find anything on the webpage, but it was there a few days ago.

There is a waiver process for kids to play from other states, I remember seeing it outlined in the Minnesota Hockey rules, but I don't remember exactly what it is. It seems it was more extensive than just getting a waiver to play for another in-state association.

Wow, no love for Brainerd in the Squirt B. Last Minnesota team alive in B at Fargo, beat Princeton in their home tournament.

I have learned that in AAA kids don't need to tryout. "MN Selects" can be more then just picking the best players. I logically have to laugh and say that "Selects" should change their name to "Favorites". You will find as you are around AAA more that terms like 'Selects' have as much meaning as 'El...

Can I ask what AAA team? I understand if you dont want to say since you didn't state it in your post. Most AAA teams have already had tryouts, and most teams are picked minus maybe a couple players. So tryouts will be added to fill those spots. Many kids who already made the team dont come to those...

I agree, you really just have to try some different ones. I sent my son to one of the big, highly touted goalie development places, and he came back worse after a week than before he went. Not that they do anything bad, it just wasn't a proper fit. He has found a few that he likes that work well wit...

I would guess that it has happened quite a few times over the years in D10. The reason is the wide range of program sizes. There are several associations that may have 20-30 kids at a level and if they go 'A' they will end up losing most of their games by 10 or more goals. Even going 'B1' they will...

It may be more common at squirts, I know a couple of years ago both St. Francis and Coon Rapids had a B1, B2, and C, and St. Francis has the same this year, too. Won't happen in District 5, though, because they have a rule that if you have more than one team at a level that you have to have an A team.

Hockey General You raise a good point. As you noted, a lot of the tournaments don't list results. It is frustrating that so few of the squirt teams list all their scores. Kudos for Sibley for listing (in detail) game results. As shown they did lose one game in the Cloquet tournament to a WI team wh...

The fog must have lifted from the hook. Yes, you are wrong. Do you still believe they gave up two goals "all of last season   Keep throwing crap at the wall in an effort to see what sticks. Checking can deliver that increased force, but checking can also be viewed as a “braking” mechanism, slowing down play at the peewee level. My concern is that as these kids now have no brakes and like racecar drivers will go wide open and faster as the season progresses. They will really hurt thems...

Well, he had to be referring to Andover having mites on their team, because St. Cloud, being in District 5, can't have mites on any team except the lowest level offered by district rule.

I tended to agree with this sentiment, but all 5 Fire players who tried out made PWA in Edina. and STMA PWA, Andover PWA, WBL PWA, etc ... etc ... can they ge...

I had a kid in the Choice League last season, and the subject never came up. Not from the coaches, even though there were times that there were a significant number of kids missing from the Choice team, or from Bernie at the parents meeting. That's great. If it is like that all the time and it stay...

You can play either where you live, or where you go to school. You register with the association where you live, and if you would rather play where you go to school you get an automatic waiver to play in that association instead. Or at least that is what the rule was for the 2010-2011 season.

Minnesota Made announced the PeeWee Choice league a day or two after USA Hockey passed their PeeWee checking proposal. It looks to be pretty much the same format as the Squirt Choice league, so it isn't really anything earth-shattering. But the kids that played in the PeeWee supplemental league last...

The other reason no Minnesota off-season team will get invited is because they are not registered with USA Hockey. No way they bring in a team that doesn't play under their banner.

I have to agree with Quasar, I think we can do better. Yes, there were more kids drafted from Minnesota than from any other state. But the first one didn't go until number 60, almost the last pick of the second round. Which backs up the idea that these are role players, and not stars. This article f...

Does anyone know where to find the actual vote? I looked at USA Hockey and couldn't find it, just curious who the 12% that voted against it are. According to the twitter feeds from Saturday, Minnesota Hockey supports the rule change, but just didn't think there was enough time to implement it. Inter...
