Yep, I didn't even mention the USPHL teams. In no particular order.

Hudson (WI) Havoc (border city, I'll include them)
Minnesota Blue Ox (Coon Rapids)
Minnesota Moose (Blaine)
Minnesota Mullets (Forest Lake)
Steele County Blades (Owatonna)

Re: MN Junior Hockey pecking order....

......Is there a current pecking order of junior hockey teams in Minnesota as far as overall success? Look at the NAHL standings from the last several years, I suppose. The other measure of success is player advancement. I would put them in this order, personally. Austin Bruins Minnesota Wilderness...

Again, I still don't understand the hate for the Big Ten Hockey Conference. 4 NCAA berths with 3 teams making it to the Frozen Four. It's the best conference this year and poised to be the best conference going forward. Over half the teams in the BTHC were once in the WCHA. So what exactly is the pr...

Every game should be on FSN. Seriously, BTN can air the other schools.

I understand that, but there is nothing stopping the U from scheduling SCSU, UND, etc out of conference. And they do, and people still complain. I went to the Saturday night Wisconsin game this season and it was fun, the students made the atmosphere, but there were a lot of empty seats. I think the ...

http://www.citypages.com/news/what-happened-to-minnesotas-hockey-program-7960026 Thanks for re-sharing this. The final part kind of sums up my bewilderment about the fan base for Gopher hockey. Two years ago the complaint for why people didn't watch was the B1G was too weak. Now it is the strongest...

Blueliner and I mean to say in my original post..more in state kids than out of state. Sorry about that. I would like a balance. I don't think any of us would really pay attention to gopher hockey if it was 10-12 23 year old kids from Canada wearing the gopher jersey. If you think we have an attend...

Here's what I don't want (and I'm guessing many will agree) 1. A team of a bunch of 22-25 year olds 2. A team of more out of state kids than in state 3. An arena that supports a 60-75% season ticket base (I'd like to see at least 1,000 free tickets for students...and at least 200 free tickets set a...

Yeah, it was cool. Saw it on NHL Network or NBC Sports. The sad part, first thing I thought of is USA Hockey SafeSport policies on social media and phones/cameras in the locker room. The video never should have happened since there are supposed to be no cell phones in the locker room. Yeah, sucks my...

Now don't get me started on how bad Celly celebrations have gotten over the past few years. I can't find anywhere there's a charity benefiting from an all-celly team. You know how after scoring a goal players will go over to their bench and give everyone high fives? Nothing wrong with it, but I've ...

It's for all the marbles. I understand boys going hard to the net. Loosen up the penalties on the D preventing guys going hard to the net. Let them lay the lumber and protect the goalie. I don't care what the game is for, they need to protect the goalie in his crease. Some of this, most of it, isn'...

I heard a rumor GAC stuffed the Hutchinson side programs with an insert of a map of SW MN for the downright confused tiger fans. Yes, Luverne is a city in MN with a real life, operational Ice Arena. BMIA even has a Zamboni. Somebody will have to confirm this for me later. There's even an outdoor ri...

You are either a good coach or you are not. Simple as that. Parent, non-parent, I don't care. I just want the best coach available. If they happen to be related to a kid on the team, okay, if not, that's fine too. Bottom line is do they get the job done, are they developing the players and turning t...

Didn't OMGHA have a dustup within the last two years where the MG side wanted to break off from the Osseo side and the Osseo kids would have ended up at North Metro? Seem to recall the reason it didn't happen was a lack of ice in MG. I spoke with a MG player who left there a few years ago to play Ti...

I think Hermantown’s attracts more kids to come play for them when/if they opt up. As a AA program, they would be the darlings of the state of hockey. I’m in Hermantown often. A great town, school, tax base, and a great sports community right next to Duluth. The Edina of northern Minnesota but bett...

When looking at the future prospects of a HS program I immediately go to the youth website and see how many teams they are fielding and what the records are like. First thing I look for is a pyramid, 6 Squirt teams, 5 Pee Wee teams, 4 Bantam teams, as opposed to an inverted pyramid where you have mo...

I agree with you wetP. The rich will always get better no matter the situation. The less fortunate, small town A hockey will suffer more. AA programs playing A hockey will dominate even more. Elite league has pretty much lost all credibility with me. And A programs playing AA high school can’t keep...

What about pushing the state tournament back to the end of March, extending the season a couple of weeks, and adding more games? What spring sports are you really running over? Track, lacrosse, baseball? The weather is still pretty crappy in late March and into April and a lot of these events end up...

My answer would be yes, about .500 record if they played a schedule of 20 A teams from across all sections of the state.
