Re: Top 5 Goaltenders
Wes Swenson will play for Andover., my guess Will Larson should get a good look for them as well. I believe he came back to Andover after a great freshman year with TG Larson was actually a transfer to Andover. I’m not sure if there was a family move or if it was open enrollment, but he played for ...

Re: 2019-20 Schedules
#-o Why is Irondale joining the SEC? It's time to get rid of conferences and just play an independent schedule like Duluth East. Why does any team change conferences? Geographic proximity, more appropriate level of competition across all sports (not just hockey), maintaining rivalries, etc. Pointin...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
IMO - The Braccini kids will 100% both be back. Jake (and Tyler) could very well do before and afters. Dad Bryan is very protective (I don’t say that in a negative way as he is a USHL alum) in what they do. When Jake was the 6th overall pick by then Bloomington in the phase 1 draft a few years ago ...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
Hearing him and his brother may play before and after with St. Cloud Blizzard. Did you hear that Stang? Yes, one of the two people I talked to did mention the Blizzard. The relocation is convenient with St. Cloud being a short trip from Buffalo (or Hanover). I’m sure the Blizzard would welcome them...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
Good investigation Stang! You obviously carried all your contacts out to the 5280! Happy to hear Jake will be back Last saw him in the 8AA semis against STMA. Huge crowd at Buffalo. We happened to sit by Nathan Muellers mom and grandma at center ice. Saw HockeyonFire there also as I recall. Danny R...

Re: 9 Minnesotans make Hockey News Top 120 for the upcoming 2019 NHL Draft
8+1 is correct. Crazy how far Helleson has dropped (if this list is accurate). If I had to guess I’d say he goes higher than this, but he may be one of the rare cases where going to the NTDP actually hurt his draft stock. The difference in trajectory between he and Jackson Lacombe, who stayed at Sh...

Re: 2019-2020 Coaching Changes List
Plenty of drama so stay tuned for the ugly details as they come out over the next few weeks. AD quit over the deal (ordeal). Actual top candidate turned it down. Not sure TE was even in the initial interview process. What a mess. Has any of the juicy details leaked out of Mendota Heights yet? I'm a...

Re: 2019-2020 Coaching Changes List
Not that it invalidates any of your other points, but LVN was only moved out of 1AA on the girls’ side. You still have at least two more years of hoping that Hastings or someone else can break the streak of all-Lakeville finals.

Re: 2022 grad commits to WI on 5/10 - so much for recruiting rules
Per the Wisconsin State Journal, he was offered in March, before the new rules took effect. I wouldn’t make too much about an early verbal like this since Wisconsin has been notoriously bad about over-recruiting in recent years. We’ll see how many make it to campus.

This is the one thing that sticks in my craw (craw?). The ripple effect... back home, new home, players, coaches, fans, non-hockey friends.... If the family is moving to the Duluth area I understand Hermantown. Its tough to beat, nice home neighborhoods, schools, sports etc... In most aspects it be...

Re: USHL Draft on May 6th
Probably a stupid question, but am I missing something in not seeing what others are in Beacom? He is TINY for a D-man, and while I know that his numbers from Kennedy have to be taken with a large grain of salt, I have never really seen him take over a game, even against weaker competition. Perhaps...

Re: Death of inner ring suburbs hockey
What hit me most is how poor the Big Nine Conference is. Literally, one of if not the poorest in the state of hockey conferences. And it is getting worse down here. (Having one employer does that) I was initially surprised by some of the percentages for the Big Nine schools, but it makes sense upon...

Re: Death of inner ring suburbs hockey
FWIW I have done some research on success and the lunch rate. Blaine bucks the trend, so did Bemidji. Largely the schools with lowest f\r lunch rate succeed at a vastly higher rate than those with higher rates. At least in AA.....in 1AA The 3 Dakota County teams run at under 10% while the 4 Big Nin...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Two senior goalies in two years. Poaching upperclassmen is a classless move. Really makes you question the integrity of the program and school. Loahr might not have been an "aggressive " recruiter but he did it with integrity and class. While I agree with your general point, the situations are quit...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Whatever TG is doing it hasn't seemed to help much the past several years. Totally new coaching staff (actually twice) after longtime coach Loahr retired two years ago. Brian Murphy coached 2017-18 before leaving for CDH, then Adam Sharratt stepped in last year. Loahr was not a particularly aggress...

Speaking from personal experience, I grew up primarily playing in the Brooklyn Park youth system, which for years was among the bette...
