He’s had a great week. He made the #1 highlight for the NASL this past week.

His goal is at 1:20.
Quite the first goal of his junior career! Lawson has great hand-eye coordination and toughness for his size, and both were on full display there.

Re: Greenway F Donte Lawson commits to Bemidji State

Wonderful news to hear. I assumed it was only a matter of time before Donte would receive some offers following his stellar showing at the tournament.

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Hermantown, East Grand Forks, St. Cloud Cathedral, Alexandria. Move these teams up to AA. Then make a few moves to the sections in the metro and it’ll help. Also not sure why teams (like Mounds View, Hopkins, St Louis Park, Anoka, Burnsville, Jefferson, etc...) don’t recruit like Edina, Tonka or EP...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

I won’t bother quoting your whole post, but thanks for adding the historical perspective for the northern teams, Karl (and eloquently at that). I am aware of some of the older dynasties, but wanted to pick a more modern era just prior to the change to two classes. A decade is an easy reference point...

Re: Pridictability of Class AA - state

Hot take alert: several of the sections were rather predictable dating back to the single class era. Like many of you, I recall ye olden days fondly and cherish my memories of playing for a small school going up against the big boys in sections. That said, we pretty much knew how our season was goin...

Re: 8AA 2019-2020

Buffalo will be somewhere between 2-4. Elliott is definitely lower on Buffalo than most, but I also think people need to pump the brakes a bit on assuming the Bison will make a leap forward next season. I know I sound like a broken record since this is the third time I’ve mentioned it, but Buffalo’...

Re: Job openings

I would think anyone considering this job would want to have a meeting with the president of the youth association. They need to play their top Peewee and Bantam teams at the AA level if they want to support the HS program. I don't think doing a "reverse Hermantown" is helping these kids prepare fo...

Re: A and AA Enrollment Information

You can appeal your classification. Minnesota a River was initially assigned to the same section as New Prague and Eden Prairie. Minneapolis was assigned to an AA section. The appeal process is not defined by the MSHSL.....why can MN River, Minneapolis, and New Ulm opt down but Dodge County can’t?....

Re: Job openings

I don't think the official thread has been started, but you can put Rogers on the list. Much like Shakopee, Rogers could be a good opportunity, and perhaps to an even greater extent. It’s a growing exurb with a good economic base and lots of young families. Nice facilities located literally across ...

Re: A and AA Enrollment Information

Hockey / Boys & Girls Boys: Largest 64 = Class AA Remainder = Class A Girls: Largest 64 = Class AA Remainder = Class A Hockey, Boys AA 1246 and above Is this really true on the girls' side? If so, how are St. Paul / Henry Sibley and Minneapolis in A? Henry Sibley is right at the dividing line betwe...

Re: Class A 2019-2020

I like the bold call on Orono, as they return nearly everyone. Delano graduates a ton from this year’s team, however. I like TRF quite a bit; they have a stacked senior class. 8A should be quite a dogfight again. As a sleeper outside of the top ten, Little Falls should take over as the clear #3 in 6...

Re: 2019-20 Preseason SWEET SIXTEEN

10. Buffalo - we've been patient waiting for them to deliver on the promise that had them the Strib's featured program in the fall of 2017. This will be their best team ever, much like Chaska this season. I mentioned it on another thread, but Buffalo’s window of opportunity most likely closed this ...

Re: AA title: Edina vs EP

Instant classic....So sorry I couldn't make it this year. The “classic” statement needs to not be thrown around every time a game goes to overtime. Let’s be realistic here, it was quite dull for a majority of the game with Eden Prairie dominating and really should have been up more than 1 to 0 goin...

Re: Cathedral vs Greenway

Well darn. It was impossible not to root for Greenway. They gave a heck of an effort, but unfortunately it was not to be. The conditioning and sheer force of will required to continuously roll two lines against top competition was amazing. At the same time, congratulations to Cathedral on their firs...

Re: A Consolation: North Branch vs Delano

Delano had a really nice season, especially considering the rough start they had. I’m sure this consolation win feels a lot better than the one a few years ago when Monticello pulled the upset and disrupted what felt like the inevitable Delano showdown with Hermantown. North Branch bounced back well...

I’m biased as a Class A junkie, but I’ll take this game any day of the week over yet another Lake Conference rematch, even though the AA championship may be objectively “better” hockey.

Pretty good when Class A has the more interesting title game 2 out of the last 3 years... imo

Greenway!
Last year’s wasn’t exactly chopped liver, either, after Alex vanquished big, bad Hermantown. It just so happened that the AA final was a star-studded matchup.

Congrats to the new STA. EGF didn't make it much of a game for a semi-final... Seriously? Whatever you may think of private schools being in Class A, SCC has never won a championship, and this is their first appearance in the final. They have one third place finish out of seven trips to state. It i...

Re: Greenway vs Mahtomedi

What a finish! Troumbly is a stud. Not to take anything away from the amazing tying shot by Troumbly, but why is a 5’6” goalie dropping down into the butterfly on a shot from the top of the circles? Seems like that is becoming the default reaction for nearly every tender when a shot is released. I’m...
