HM had to kick off 3 of their top 4 scorers to make that happen. Maybe some of the boys will get in trouble tomorrow at school.

Both brothers tormented the Pioneers. Peter had a hat trick in the 1995 Final - a 5-3 WBL win at Marriucci. Shawn had 2 goals including that OT winner in the 1996 Semifinal at the Coliseum - a huge 4-3 OT upset of #1 (22-1) HM by an under .500 (8-14-1) WBL team. HM had beaten WBL 7-0 and 6-2 earlier...

Peter Roed also spent 8 years in minor league hockey. He did have 2 full seasons in the AHL in 98-00.

Looks like Jake Wahlin is going to go out the same way that Jake Hansen did. Leaving after Jr. year to jump to juniors, all while being invisible in their last HS game. At least Hansen jumped to USHL so he could play for the Maroon and Gold. Why Wahlin is going to jump, all so he can play at big ba...

HM

I'm gonna get skewered here but I know quite a few of the HM players from recent years, I've found them to be great kids from great families. Having a relative just finish playing HS last weekend at a public school with a 'two hour a day coach' who taught him nothing in three years and had no goals...

It's a good bet none of them are from the Hill youth program!
WBL, Stillwater and Roseville High Schools also do not have youth programs. The communities of WBL, Stillwater and Roseville do.

What associations are the Hill players from? It's a good bet none of them are from the Hill youth program! I believe 3rd graders who start playing in a community youth association hockey program should sign a contract that legally binds them to attend the local public high school. As the years go b...

Congratulations to Coach Schafhauser and the Pioneers. The boys were the first private school to win a MSHSL hockey title in 1983 and now the girls are the first private school to win the AA Girls Hockey tournament. Fantastic to have them add to the great hockey tradition at Hill-Murray.

Not to be picky but it's 5. Grand Rapids won 7AA in 2006 & 2007 (finished 2nd at State both times) and Cloquet won 7AA in 2008.

Not rented. Part of the community. The coaching he got in Warroad brought him a long ways, but what he got was more than that. He learned about his relatives, his heritage, and what it meant to be part of a community and family. Sound like the experience of a lot of private school kids. We all grow...

TJ Oshie

There are two ways to look at this: #1 Oshie is from Washington. He was recruited by a booster who got dad a job in Warroad. He stayed in Warroad for only 3 years of High School Hockey, was a star player, won two state titles and left. #2 Oshie's dad was encouraged by his cousin to come back home wi...
