Since the best in 1A beat the best in 3A, does that makes 3A #7 in single A sections (just ahead of 5A)? They will be in the bottom three again. Until this section beats a team of any substance they will always be in the bottom three. Although a very average Mankato west team did beat cathedral. So...

I'm not so worried about who runs it, but I'm against any changes that make the current system worse for Minnesota kids. I guess my main concern is that the level of fall competition not be lowered, because I don't see how that helps the kids involved or makes the quality of our hockey better for ev...

The elite league runs Xposure, and over the winter MN HS players being scouted by the elite league are assigned a rating for evaluation purposes. Any kid can increase his rating (or decrease it, I guess) with a showing at Xposure. You don't really have to get kicked anywhere, either.

Elliot thx for the feedback. Thx also for all the MNH efforts over the years - we have a great overall setup here, for all the kids, and MinnHockey should get a lot of credit for that. Having said that, I'm still not sure enough top end kids will be sold on the idea of playing in this new Tier 1 fal...

Elliot, can you clarify a couple things Plz? What is the status under this proposal of the Blades, Magicians, NWings etc - would they be allowed to compete for the fall tournament and a spot in nationals? I see they would get "special affiliate status", but didn't exactly know what that meant as far...

Seems like goaltending is usually a key come playoffs. If so this year, I'd pick New Prague to win section 1A. IMHO New Prague didn't graduate their most important player from last year, G Connor Wagner . Last season in the playoffs Wagner came up huge, with back to back shutouts in the first two ro...

I was at the Open Championship game and I can tell you that if you really enjoy the comedic power of this topic, you should attend a game to take in the atmosphere in the stands.  At the end of the game, you would have thought that BK had sent out a line of ax murderer's the way their ...

Sioux, I agree with you maybe more than it sounded in my post. All kids, including the So Minn players, find a long, long road to D1 through a few tough levels. As for the fundraising aspect of the NA camps, I totally agree with you - been there, as you can probably tell - but still the sheer number...

There might be some D1 potential down there, but they're still a long ways off. Derek Frentz from Mankato West put up some pretty good HS numbers against (although not as gaudy as the Luverne players) against much better competition and was taken in the firs round of the NA draft. This year he's go...

The nice thing is that all the questions should be answered after the Marshall Holiday Tourney. Herm’s first game is against Notre Dame Academy (Wis), the team that beat EGF in the championship 2-0 last year. Hopefully, they can get past them for a shot at Marshall then EGF In last year's Marshall ...

Best Class A game of the night actually might be #7 New Prague v #14 Mankato West at New Prague, in a rematch of last year's Sec 1A final.

OU812 can provide more insight on historical percent preselected. Im assuming roughly consistent with past years. Lots of logical top junior and senior talent are not on the tryout list. WM - you are about right. Roughly 45 returning players from last year. Of the 300+ on the EL prospect list, base...

I agree the elite league website is sometimes not very up to date. Hopefully this year will be better in that area.

As for the evaluations on the 13th, I have not seen a schedule yet, but if I recall last year the first scrimmages started between 9-10AM

First of all, everybody knows the HP festival, 54's etc, are the last evaluation, not the only one. Of course evaluators take into account other chances to see players; they should, too. As for the elite league (a different thread, I know, but still), those selections start with a prospect list of o...
