Feeling good about this prediction! Tough loss last night with :07 left to go in overtime. :(

I was going by the MSHSL page , which lists the co-op as being Irondale, Fridley, and St. Anthony. Perhaps there are currently no CH kids participating? In any event, North Metro splits between Osseo and Irondale at the high school level, which complicates matters. That is correct. There are no CH ...

Actually, it is even more complicated than that. North Metro youth hockey draws from kids who live within the boundaries of Park Center, Brooklyn Center, Fridley, and Columbia Heights high schools. Only Park Center co-ops with Osseo HS, not the whole North Metro association. Fridley co-ops with Iro...

Re: Osseo/Maple Grove - What Happens at High School

TG mainly had a recruiting base in the nearby northern suburbs like Brooklyn Park, New Brighton, Mounds View, Spring Lake Park, etc. The drop off in youth talent from those areas over the past decade has coincided with TG’s own downturn. I know that the current TG roster has several kids from Roger...

Didn't OMGHA have a dustup within the last two years where the MG side wanted to break off from the Osseo side and the Osseo kids would have ended up at North Metro? Seem to recall the reason it didn't happen was a lack of ice in MG. This is correct. North Metro used to feed Park Center HS, but Par...

Congrats to Sam for making the World Jr. A 2017 team! Few accolades in high school (ala Blake Lizotte) to rising above! Leave it to Mike Gibbons to find the guys who slipped through the cracks! Hentges (Totino-Grace) is from New Brighton and played Irondale Youth Hockey growing up. He's the first (...

Americans (and Minnesotans in particular) often start low and climb throughout the year. I think McLaughlin will get drafted the highest, but I predict Jack Perbix and Zach Stejskal will climb the furthest.

I've never seen a low level squirt/pee wee (B2, C) excel past their peer group and be considered at the top of their peer group by the time they hit 17/18/19. I should clarify, a late bloomer doesn't have to finish at the top of their peer group, they've just advanced in relation to their peer grou...

Exiled...From time to time I see players classified as late bloomers and I have always been curious as to how that label gets applied. What are your thoughts on that? I have always thought it's a bit of an unfair classification but I don't think people do it with malice or ill-will...they just do i...

I have to say I do enjoy seeing people reason away any success a Tier 1 team may have against a Minnesota team. The fact is that Tier 1 is a very good model for the top end player, whether Minnesota chooses to acknowledge that or not. Speculative reasoning as to why a given result occurred is nothi...

According to their website they plan to compete in MSHSL http://gentrystars.com/ There are three teams. My assumption is that the Tier 1 team (Galaxy) is their top team. The Stars are their MSHSL team, which I believe is their second level team. They also have the Astros, which are generic AAA team...

Re: so back to what this means...

That's why I used the word "IF". Also, after Lucia and other big name programs came out against the gentleman's agreement, a whole slew of programs committed to upholding it... including UND, UMD, and SCSU. The fate of the GA may be sealed, but it's not entirely dead yet. Lucia basically just said,...

What you (and some of these coaches) don't want to admit is the gentleman's agreement isn't of any value to the recruits themselves. It is basically a way to keep recruits in the dark from what actually might be available to them on the "market". The recruits don't abide by a gentlemen's agreement....

My point is, it's disingenuous of Lucia to call for the end of the GA and also acknowledge it has value. Every Minnesotan who isn't a Gopher fan knows that Lucia is just bitter that other local college programs sometimes gamble on in-state recruits and sometimes land blue chippers. He thinks the Gop...

Were there? Like who?

If these kids dreamed of being Gophers, wouldn't they turn those other programs down? Even if they accepted the offers, couldn't the Gophers just steal them away later?

Re: so back to what this means...

Seems like the Gentleman's Agreement is going by the wayside. "For years, college coaches mostly adhered to a gentleman’s agreement in recruiting. Once a player committed to a school, other schools stopped recruiting him. Not always, but generally speaking. Lucia said that practice is “fading.” htt...

Re: so back to what this means...

So does this, like the guy above asked, mean that the kids/parents/representatives who verbally commit at this young age can't initiate contact with other D1 schools and the other schools aren't supposed to respond to them until the kids tell the school they are un-committing? The players can do an...

Does anyone know if they ever built that private ice rink for their kids? I remember reading about the public hearing farce, but never heard if they actually went through with it and built it. They bought one of the rinks at Vadnais Sports Center. Their school is a new building adjacent to the rink.

Re: is this newsworth?

What I don't get is why this is really newsworthy beyond good ol' YHH and the Gentry twitter account (the picture is funny though). None of this is binding and it all has to originate from the kid/kid's family. This kid is really good for his age, no doubt, but is it really different than any 13 ye...

Hi Strombo, if more people watched WHL games and knew more about the education package there would be less fear of playing up there. Your kid is going to be a high school senior, correct? Thankfully, he'll be able to earn four years of scholarship before he ages out of the WHL. After he ages out, h...

5) Mounds View - some line returning players up front and on the blue line is what gets them to the 4 seed. New head coach Adam Schmidt comes over from rival Irondale and will have more pieces to work with. Couple that with a nice A Bantam team and they have a chance to get the 4 seed. Are the Must...
