North Rink

One thing that's being missed here is that the North Rink isn't new. The article makes it seem like they just built it. There was always 2 indoor ice sheets in Roseau until Girls hockey and they built the Ram Center. This is like the 3rd or 4th version of the North Rink. First it had no building aro...

Coaches

Instead of blaming the winning coach, why not lay some blame on the losing coach. Maybe more time spent on fundamentals would help. You can't blame a team for performing well. If he was making them pass and move the puck and switching kids around, he did his job. Yeah, it's no fun to lose a lopsided...

KC Compressors

Everything's in and up and running. There is still work being done on some of the other parts of the project, but the ice has been in for 2 weeks and everything is a go. There is a core group of people there who have spent countless hours and tons of money to get this project done. They are incredib...

Watchdog- I think it's great. When I asked about supervision or liability I was asking because they were always so anal about supervision. You couldn't even get at the weight room in the high school without going through 4 locked doors and having an adult. That's why we bought our own universal weig...

Actually, eggroll, I was disagreeing with the recruiting over ethics issue. I just don't know how to make the fancy box everybody else does to quote a recent post. I forgot to put it in quotation marks. My bad. I DON"T AGREE WITH RECRUITING.

The lobby in Roseau had a definite odor, that you only smelled there. It's been gone since they covered up the old wooden floors with the tile. I think it was maybe from Tilley's pipe smoke.

Actually, Winning's not 4 everyone, I wasn't supporting your point. I don't agree with recruiting. I think it is wrong. Yeah, it's a tough situation in areas with small populations. But you make due with what you have. The Cities area has all sorts of people. But the fun of it all is going down ther...

I would take recruits over ethics.

As for your name, it should be "winning at all costs isn't 4 everyone.

Skate, skate, skate. Public skating, open hockey, whatever. Shinny hockey and icetime away from practice.

Under Cover wrote: As for Roseau they were supplementing their teams way back when too, if fact, 2 of their best players of their dynasty of the late '50's were Canadians brought in as "hired guns". How do I know, I know the guys that were cut to make room for them. They've just done a better job of...

Congrats, Aaron. He was a great athlete. I believe he had about a .350 career average. Tons of RBI.

Warroad

Roseau didn't run away from Warroad by going to AA. Look in the record books and count the Section 8 championships for Roseau as compared to Warroad when there was only one class. Warroad went to state a few times through the years, but most years were through "the back door." They didn't win Sectio...

Roseau, Warroad Crookston

But even some of the "homegrown" talent don't claim Warroad as home. Allen Hangslaben lists Swift as his home town in the NHL directories. Wyatt Smith has started listing TRF. The years of Smith and the Martell brothers when they won the "A" Championship, they should have cut the trophy in half and ...

Taking Yon out of Crookston is going to leave a huge hole. They had a very good Squirt A team last year.

Which Roseau team is best

76-77 Roseau only had 1 Burggraff, Frank. Mike graduated in '75. Still an awesome team. Less competition for the D1 back in the late 70's? There were far less D1 teams. Now just in Minnesota alone you have UMD, MN, Bemidji, St. Cloud, Mankato, and just across the Red River, UND. The entire WCHA was ...

Section 8 champs

Warroad had only 11 players because the parents of local kids are tired of dishing out thousands of dollars to have somebody "move" in and take their spot. Why was Mike Marvin made an agent of Warroad High School? Because he was recruiting Bantam age kids. Technically it is not recruiting if the ath...

Duck and Billy are cousins, so they maybe won't get along on the same line. They probably wouldn't pass to each other.

That line of the Brotens and Butsy was incredible. Neal had 95pts., Aaron had 86 and Butsy 68. After the state tourney Neal had 120, Aaron 102 and Butsy couldn't have been far behind. This was the '78 team. They didn't win it, but man, they were awesome. When the third leading scorer has 68 points p...

I hear you watchdog... My kids play against Roseau. I see who's coaching there. Parents as coaches many times have their own agenda. It's amazing how shameless many of them are. There are some very good ones and I had some, but the bad apples are the ones you remember. It's too bad, it seems nobody ...
