PeeWee A

Those Broten boys are good. Then throw in the Strand kid and the Helgeson and they're all pretty scary. They were a very good Squirt A team last year. Lots of weapons and good goaltending.

Why would Roseau worry about the wolves raiding their programs? The private schools should worry about kids wanting to play in Roseau. There have been people discouraged to move to Roseau for hockey reasons. Some of them have no idea what they are walking into and bringing their kids into. There hav...

3 Sport Athletes

I think kids should play more than one sport. Each sport prepares you for the next. You hear so much these days about burnout in our youth. They are sick of playing one sport per year. You didn't hear about burnout years ago. I'm not talking about just hockey, either. All the other sports are doing ...

Best Arena

Roseau Memorial had the best ice anywhere until they heated the rink. Still good ice, however.

Elite hockey and Playing Football

Sieve 33, would you have skipped a hockey game in the middle of hockey season to go to the metrodome to play a baseball game? Remember, these kids love both sports.

I still say it's wrong. It's a tough decision for a kid to make. Multiple sport athletes are usually the best athletes.

USHL vs. High School

I agree with you that they are using it for a stepping stone. I just think they should stay there longer and get bigger and stronger. Some of these kids think they should play one year of college and go pro. They aren't ready to leave after a year or two. They should finish their development. The pr...

Elite hockey and Playing Football

I think if kids want to do both fine. I know of an athlete in our program who did both. He ended up hurting his knee in a football game. I don't know if it was from too much of both sports or what. He made Football the priority. Which is how I feel it should be handled. I coach Baseball in the Sprin...

I agree with Lopresti. Kids should go to college and stay there. I've seen more and more kids leave college early in the last few years for the NHL. Some were very good college players. But where are they? Most of them don't last very long and end up in the minors for their career. Look back 25-30 y...

I agree with poster who said, "There's more to life than hockey." I think kids who leave early miss out on too many other things, football, cross country, etc. College coaches are looking at other things hockey players do, like other sports. It also depends on the program you play in. Kids from Edin...
