Re: 218 - Minnesota Wilderness U18 goes 4-0

Awesome. I saw them, as well as Voyageurs. Both beat my son's team in close games. Minnesota showed its model off to all. Elite League in full swing. Blades showcase. Blizzard showcase. NAPHL. Think how many kids it takes to fill all these teams and everyone did well. Best developmental model in th...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

Funny Kilen didn't make the second tryout. More fishy business. I'm told he will prob. Be a 3rd liner at Hermantown. Very small and doesn't pass. Complete travesty that Cody Croal of NB isn’t on an EL roster (to my knowledge) Kid made National 15 Camp & is a really nice player. Politics have been a...

St Franny to NorthBranch(‘skol..’)
Looks like he played 1 game as a Junior last year?
18 games as a Soph. Injured last year maybe?
He was in a very bad car accident and had a severely broken leg. Critical condition for a while if I remember right.

2 more years of total GREATNESS for North Branch and then they won’t even be able to form a varsity squad the next year.

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020

Banished? What the heck would a high school hockey coach be throwing out the “I banish you” words. That’s not the language of a high school hockey coach/leader/mentor for our kids is it? I can’t believe Coach would “banish players” high school kids.... Alec Baer already forgotten. For going to watc...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters

There are absolutely some on this list who should have been on teams already like Jackson Blake and Max Burkholder (when was the last time a Bantam Player of the Year had to tryout for elite league? I know YHH’s selection has nothing to do with EL team placement, but typically the top couple Bantam...

Well said MinnScout I’m particularly puzzled how Stramel can be at NatCamp and trying out for HS Elite League at the same time , Im assuming he didn’t get auto acceptance as a freshman (although maybe deserving ) Not to mention being listed on main BEL roster pending further developments It can dep...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Edina will always have a handful of D1 caliber players on every team. With the sheer numbers in their youth program and former professional and D1 players who choose to live there it’s always likely they’ll have very talented and well coached players. But like an earlier poster said, a well rounded...

OTC, I'm just saying, Edina doesn't like anything but firsts and many Edina fans will start showing up with success.... You have to remember all the stories about 2nd place trophies left in the locker rooms...??..  Heck... The whole city will probably come out with the Edina numbers on t...

They went back to the Frozen Four in 2005, 2012, and 2014, reaching the final in that last year. He won a conference regular season championship every year from 2012 through 2017 (and yes, the last four were in the weaker Big Ten, but the first two of those were in the WCHA). This is when I realize...

Re: State of Hockey's Team

Obviously turning into a Lucia type pout fest on here... College representation is creeping up in percentage in the NHL and the longer development is turning undrafted players into future NHLer's. A win-win. Go ahead and watch the 18-21 year olds play 35 year olds in the NHL if you can't handle it.....

The most flabbergasting thing on this thread is my good friend Hockey59 rattled off 47 1998 birth year D1 names from memory! 193 divided by 4... but the 193 could be from 6 or 7 birth years but you still can divide by 4 for a rough average.. of course knowing kids will enter at all different times.. but it is pretty simple to get a rough average per year. Some birth years might have 66 that end up playing D-1... and other...

Re: Seldom noticed and under rated

Some I've seen: Burnsville: Grant Ahcan, Junior, crafty hard nosed player, small stature but obvious hockey sense and scoring ability Prior Lake: Matt Beaty, Sophmore, guy you like on your team but hate to play against. Always around puck and nipping at your heels. South St. Paul: Owen Ramirez, Jun...

Remember how these are picked too... The NB coach is one of the coaches for 5AA team... Not saying kids aren't deserving, but always will be smaller schools represented, can't have the HP tryout money dry up if kids don't have hope of making it.. We can't all be Centennial.. Good luck in your games...

Re: Study: Average age that Division I players commit is over 18

Many of the Magicians and Austin Bruins players have all committed after their 18th bday including this year both of the Bruins goalies. Magicians: Buhl, Keranen and I’m sure I’m missing some, but committed this year after their 20th bday. Your high end “prospects” are still committing around 16-18...

Statewide Parity! We had Cathedral and Hermantown at the same time for a while and no talent stayed at the other eight programs in the section. Parity would be for Cathedral and Hermantow...
