The EP/H-town game was played in slush so I am not going to put a lot of stock in that one or say class A is as good as AA because an A school came within a goal of a AA school in a game that was difficult to make a 10 ft pass for either side. Is that the best example you could come up with? Almost ...

I will be the first to argue that Class A hockey is every bit as good, but it doesn't have the lure the AA tournament has

I don't know what to think with section 8AA now. Which only makes sense in that I haven't traveled up to see the usual favorites or MN hs hockeys version of the broad street bullies (Brainerd). I think it's a 3 horse race and not much difference in the 3. Brainerd has to feel good about their last w...

i am taking brainerd even though I have been tough on them lately. Moorhead just gave up 6 unanswered goals to an over rated jefferson team at home before getting a few late to make the score look okay. It seems like they are giving up 4-6 goals against all the better teams so I am not sure how some...

"how do you figure???" Defense Sorry for hurting your feelings too. See above post on how Moorhead and DE (who many would say are the best teams in 7 and 8) have had trouble keeping the score within 3 or 4 goals of the best teams from 494. The good thing for you guys is it's hs hockey and ...

Sniper - The discussion is about Brainerd being a contender. Not who has what record over the last ten years. What happened in the last decade doesn't have a whole lot to do with who is good this year and who will contend. Start a new thread if you want to discuss state tourneys from the past ten ye...

Thanks Lee for reminding me but lets stay on topic here. I hate Edina by the way so you really didn't ruffle any feathers there. I did like the way Budish played and had he not had that stupid football injury I think Edina would have been a much different team. Seriously, look at the loss stre...

hockey mgr. Its real easy and the scores don't lie. Section 7's best: Duluth East...Who have they lost to this year? Minnetonka by 4 goals Hill murray. 5-1 game over the day after Edina beat em. Wayzata. Those pretty boys beat the hounds in Duluth. Edina shut them out 3-0 heck edina hadn't shut out ...

I just stated why I dont think they are a contender or why they will have a tough time contending (weak schedule). I think to contend for a state championship you have to ready yourselves against the best all year even if it gives you 6-7 defeats. These teams are better off than the teams that hide ...

Well the state hs league has brainerd listed as 1964 students. What is the cutoff for class A? You may want to look into it. Eagan and EP both play tougher schedules and have similar records. How many Top 20 AA wins does Brainerd have. It looks like 0 to me. I didn't know anyone wrote them off at th...

I don't see the Spring Lake Park (the cities finest) game on the schedule? Maybe the schedule is off and that's probably the only reason us city folk won't crowd the doors trying to get a peek at this rough and tumble canadian style team.

Brainerd HS has about 2000 students so I wouldn't say we're ripping on the small schools, eh?
Good for Greenway and their respectable 7-8 record. Other than that 8-0 loss recently to Lake of The Woods they seem to really have things on track.

Have the warriors play a team within 50 miles of the cities and then we'll see if they can contend. There record is a direct result of not playing ONE metro team. The few losses they have are a 6-0 running timer vs. Moorhead and a decent class A team in Alexandria. You can only hide for another month.

Brained isn't a northern team. They are more in that no mans land where mediocre players have the ability to score 200 pts in a career. There is no defined boundary but just the fact that they are not in with the good programs in the NW, iron range, or duluth and they are not near the cities. I see ...

To go 11 picks ahead as a goalie vs a forward is a much bigger deal in the NHL draft. Regardless of where you think his stock went you cant argue he prepared himself better for college and pro hockey. He saw a lot more shots in games and practice from much better players. Played against stronger pla...

Leddy - Bigger and stronger defensively in front of the net and in the corners. Also has a slap shot that exceeds 55 mph. Do you guys realize ness is almost 19 years old and his draft year was last year? He played 3 years of hs and moved on at 18 years old. I don't consider him leaving early.

Well someone should remind dave that he would be a 7 seed and end up playing EP who is neck and neck with edina this year as the 1-2 best teams so far. Section 8AA is weak to say the least this year so that doesnt give him much ammo. They could remind him of the 10-0 combined score that HM and Edina...

After seeing the seedings and their draws, I actually wish roseau would have won the section so they could come down to X to get throttled by another bunch of rich, city kids for the third game in row.
But moorhead handled roseau easily and will only lose to Edina by 4 goals, 5-1 is my prediction.
