That writer is a hack, Gophers have won more games than any program in the country over past 4 years. Article should be on Big Ten hockey not Gopher hockey. Give it time and Big Ten will be top conference. Its all about money and they have it. No, the B1G will never be more than the third or fourth...

Exactly. All opinions are certainly good and welcomed. That said, I just don't see myself spending time on a message board for hockey in another state giving thoughts on how they should do things. Every state is different and has different dynamics. What's the point? And how would I even know what ...

There is a perfectly good reason for why it's set up this way. If sandbagging is a problem now (which judging by all the posts on here, it definitely is) it would be a lot worse if you could just play anyone during the season. It would be pretty easy to designate yourself a B team if you could play...

MN Hockey does allow scrimmages across designations under some circumstances. You have to ask your director for permission but if you give them a good reason, such as that the teams are evenly matched, they will most likely approve it. It's the invitational tournaments that they are strict about. U...

Honestly I don't get why teams must have strict adherence to playing whatever level they are part of. You could actually deem levels based on association size just as described above but that designation would ONLY be for state tournament purposes. Otherwise regardless of what your designation is I...

Because then you put an emphasis on winning instead of where it is supposed to be for youth sports, development, competition, and fun. A relegation system would be a very bad idea. I disagree, promotion and relegation do not put an emphasis on winning. Just the opposite actually. They put an emphas...

This is the league that picked up the now defunct MnJHL, a lower tier 3 league. Even the top MnJHL teams would have been beaten by run of the mill Minnesota high school teams . I wouldn't worry too much. [/u] Saying stuff like this is just beyond ridiculous. It's mind boggling that you would even t...

WI is the place where the placekicker doesn't miss a 27 yard field goal in a playoff game.......... MN is the place where the defense doesn't give up 80 yards in two plays to lose a playoff game........ ] ](*,) Wisconsin is the place with 13 NFL titles and 6 NCAA D1 hockey titles (the most recent i...

Why would Minnesota change it's association based model to a Tier 1 and club model? From everything I see the association model works much better. Higher participation. Highly developed players. Is your goal to bring Minnesota hockey down to the level of the rest of the country? Escalate costs like...

As stated in a few articles, I think this is obviously a ploy by the Big Ten to tilt the field in their favor. They haven't seen success against other conferences all that much besides the WCHA. None of the B10 schools said anything about these rules before the creation of the conference. Change th...

I'll tell you.....this could end up being the way the teaching of body contact and limited checking is forced back into PeeWees. Most astute lawyers could craft the claim in terms of negligence. Or even squirts for that matter.... OR it could be yet another dominoe falling toward eliminating body c...

Not to mention there's a very significant difference in the speed of the two games, a soccer player isn't standing on slippery ice, a soccer player is standing on their feet and isn't standing on two 1/16 inch wide blades, a soccer player isn't moving at a very high rate of speed next to what is es...

I believe they are stuck to the 1-2 system because they believe it is a better development tool for referees. I disagree, but I am too old to be worrying about advancing to nahl tier 7, ushl, or anything beyond high school. As far as refs not controlling games, when is the last time you saw a coach...

Do you realize two of the videos you posted show young kids playing soccer? At very elite soccer academies. The other one is a video of a kid executing a single trick that he probably tried thousands of times to perfect it. What do these videos have anything to do with a decision that was made cons...

The comment has been made that they need to have checking in PeeWees so kids can learn how to check properly when smaller and can learn how to move up ice with their head up so they can learn to avoid hits. The fact that 11-12 year olds can't multitask is the exact science that contributed to getti...

Hogwash....signed, Mr Uniformed I was privvy to the conversations as I know some high level USA Hockey people. I even remember commenting that I didn't think it was going to help attrition/retention at all because I didn't think it was the main reason kids left the sport at that age, that is an age...

Player retention was high on the list, but so were concussions as well as other injuries. It was not a one issue topic. Unfortunately it was not a Mayo study but a Canadian study that put it over the top. (Why unfortunate? Not that it was Canadian but that it was somewhat anecdotal. As well as what...
