Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
Did they make up the Fargo games? If so, those aren't included in the stats yet. I think they played them this weekend? They played one of them against each team. My understanding is those games counted as points for two games, I.E. win = 4 points, but that is just what I heard at the rink this wee...

Re: Bantams vs. High School
My thought is every single situation/kid is different in regards to the association they are in, what kind of bantam team you are on, what the HS team's look like, times of games/practices, size/strength of the kid, cost/travel, kid mature enough to be around HS kids, etc. Lots of variables and aga...

Re: Bantams vs. High School
Moving the focus on this topic away from the games. While I agree that the game differential is a big part of the equation, but practices are also a very big part of the equation. Let me elaborate further, If you will be hands down the best player on the bantam team and not really challenged in prac...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
All I know is for CEC, if a student/athlete is participating in a sport, they don’t participate in another at the same time, Eli captains practice. I’ve been watching captains practice for 10 years. There are never football or soccer or volleyball(girls) athletes skating until the sport their curre...

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019
MWS.....I'm standing by my primary point that things are wide open this year. That take is based on a lot more than a few games in the Elite League, which I actually don't think provides much predictive value at all. Sorry if my comments made it sound like that's what I'm basing it on because that'...

Re: Let’s see some top 10 lists for AA, 2019
Interesting to see the success that the Great Plains team is having in the Elite League. Tells me that things are likely wide open this year in AA and that you may not want to sleep on Section 8. I have no idea on Section 8 teams, but I think looking at the Elite League Power team's success may be ...

Re: 2019 Elite League Rosters
This elite league stuff is becoming a joke. North and GP teams play 4 games in 36 hours Versus cities team that play 2x on those weekends. How could schedulers ever thing this is a good idea? Injuries waiting to happen let alone a fresh team playing a team that has already played 2 games in past 22...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
In this three years as head coach Gustafson hasn't lost kids early at any higher rate than Roberts did before him. In Gordie's four years he lost Blake Hillman, Andrew Zerban and Matt Kiersted. Gustafson so far has only lost Jack Perbix (last year), with Michaelis and Humphrey this coming season wo...

Re: Early Departures 2019-2020
Confirming early posts that Humphrey will join Michaelis as Elk early depart That’s too bad. What kind of team the Elks going to have this year? 5-8 seed or possible 3/4 seed. How was the kids leaving early numbers before the latest coach took over. In this three years as head coach Gustafson hasn'...

Re: 7AA 2019-2020
Come on K.... Why go after Elk River? At least none of them are going to EP like your boys I appreciate Elk, trust me. I’ve got a very good hockey dad/bud that lives in Elk and is a diehard. It’s just interesting that they haven’t kept their top end talent the last few years. Which is ver odd 😐 If ...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
One question I have on this scenario, Is he really playing with his life long buddies and teammates? Maybe a few, but SCC is a private school that has players from many different towns that he would not have played with. Sure returning to play with his teammates from HS is likely a more accurate st...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
I can confirm the reason Austin Cooley was not eligible for varsity last year is due to the Grand Forks AD deaming him ineligible for Varsity athletics. They would not wave him as being ineligible in MN after his move. MNSHL would not listen to his argument as I understand it even though the family...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Wow, I guess I'll eat crow on that one to some extent, I was talking about him playing Gentry HS, but I suppose the U16 team could be decent. Although they won't have the Lucius brothers and I think a few others were also leaving including their goalie? They did not sell GA, it is now a charter sch...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Someone with a kid at GA told me that there's a possibility he goes to the GA high school team...which seems crazy to me. You'd be paying the same $ to go to either GA or STA, as far as education goes I'd have to believe STA is much better. With the GA owner's kids heading to Michigan for NTDP and ...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
Elk Rivers numbers are down across the board, youth program is suffering as well. Other factors could be that ER is an aging exurb and there are not a lot of younger families moving into it. Socioecomincs play a part too, ER is more of a blue collar city and the cost of hockey is getting out of con...

Re: Transfers for 2019-20 season
You see that a lot, more so recently, I think a lot of kids 1. See where they fit or that the group behind or ahead of them is better. 2. Not willing to put in time and effort demanded 3. Burned out and just want to play for fun. 4. Feel spurned by coaches if not getting what they think they deserv...

Yes, I agree with most of what you are saying, except HP Heavy in late April/May, especially getting into May as that is cabin time..... May 9th is the fishing opener, so you hit my point exactly. While actual season for spring sports may start April 6th, I do know many LAX and Baseball players have...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?
As for the Gentry and SSM players, they participated at 15's last year, thus not a change. Sure there were more Gentry players whom decided to tryout this year at 16's (for whatever reason), but why wouldn't they be able to participate as they are considered MN and USA Hockey. Which district should ...

I challenge you. Fix it... If you have the kids best int...

Re: 2019 HP U17 or U16 Boys Rosters?
Looking at Section 1, Lakeville South has 6 kids on 16s roster and 5 on the 17s roster. Of those 11 kids, 5 are D, 5 are F and a goalie. Pretty balanced. It is interesting that LVN doesn't have a single representative on the 17s team. According to some, not a single LVN player tried out for 17s. It...

It is interesting that posters have many ideas regarding improvement and the amount of money that is netted from the process, BUT your faces are never seen at a MN Hockey meeting.
