This score came as quite a bit of a surprise last night, but one thing points out at me about this year's team and the last couple as well. The goaltending is not quite what it has been during Warroad's runs through the state tournament in the mid 90's through the mid 2000's. Those teams all had a ...

They started out with only "B" squads 5-7 years ago as far as I can remember, seeing their name pop up on tourney brackets around the north every once in a while. Although it is nice to a community attempting to become a part of the great minnesota high school hockey tradition, they are ta...

I believe Nelson and Knochemus being in the north have to do extra good to compete, but some AA kid will end up winning it. Not necessarily, but it does help. Lee from Moorhead won it back in 2005, but for the most part it does usually go to a "city slicker." If Warroad and Roseau both co...

If Warroad is indeed the real deal this season, then this if their first opportunity to right the ship after a disappointing loss earlier this week. I like to remain optimistic and see the Warriors making a statement in this one against a quality opponent. The key will be coming out of the gates on ...

Anyone at these games last weekend? Was Warroad really five goals better than Minnetonka, or were there some empty net goals maybe? Judging from some of the scores the Warriors are putting up this year they could possibly make a strong case for best team in the state, but too bad they are in class A...

Well according the to Fall Players to Watch list he is an A prospect, I believe the list was posted earlier this fall on here. I was merely saying Nelson is next in line to be a Warroad HS draft pick, preceded by TJ Oshie in the first round in 2005, and Aaron Marvin in the third round in 2006. As f...

The kid is 18 years old, i'd say it's inevitable that he'll put on some weight in the next few years. Saying he'll need to put on some weight is about as relevant as saying he'll have to put on his skates to play at the next level... Alright take it easy buddy, all I stated is that he is tall and s...

If you are referring to Brock Nelson, then I suggest you look away from the program and take a look at him away from his equipment. If it says that on the program then it is purely a stat for scouts to take a gander at, in all seriousness however he will need a get a little bigger to make those nex...

It seems to me as though the teams seem to be keeping the foot on the pedal for a majority of the blowout games as well. A simple 7 or 8 nothing game now means little as a win for your respective squad, but now simply a chance to score half a dozen points for your "horse" looking to lead t...

I don't get a lot of opportunities to see these upper echelon metro players, with the exception of the occasional FSN broadcast, but from what I have seen Brock Nelson and Adam Knochemus are truly great players. Nelson has great size, needs to put on some weight although before UND, and an amazing s...

A few good ones I can think of off the top of my head are the Buffalo Bison, resembles the Sabres NHL logo and would be even better with a color other than purple. Another one is the Pioneers of Hill Murray, especially those new jerseys they were sporting against WBL last week.

The junior goalie for Warroad, Shelby Amsley-Benzie, verbally committed to the University of North Dakota for the 2011-2012 campaign last year as well to add to the list, I am sure there will be a few other Warroad girls making commitments in the next season or so as well!

I know Warroad used to play the Mesabi East Giants to start their season in the late 90s, are they still around? I played in Indus in youth hockey, always a treat for the parents Im sure to see their little peanuts zipping around in the below zero temps, then cramming into the warming house!

Should be a great game like always, Roseau has some rather impressive young players but they will be matched by a talented Spud squad as well. Wish I could be in attendance, but maybe down at SCSU for the section title game instead...

Despite all the history associated with the Warroad/Roseau rivalry it certainly has changed over the years with the difference of classes. A more modern case can be made with Warroad/TRF. They have been a part of the section championship almost every year in the last 5-6 years and always are great g...

This is a great idea!! I witnessed it first hand this weekend as well. Playing there is a joke because its rigged! :D Grand Rapids 5 @ Warroad 4 Yep, it's rigged. They sure like to schedule those AA teams when it doesn't matter though don't they? They won't schedule half their section opponents yet...
