I am curious to know...how many players off team USA came through college hockey? Just off the top of my head: Quick, Miller, Parise, Suter, McDonagh, Faulk, Oshie, Kessel, VanRiemsdyk, Kesler, Backes, Howard, Martin, Orpik, Shattenkirk, Wheeler, Stepan, Pavelski, Stastny... Many played only a year...

I'd be curious to see what the cost of travel would be if EGF had opted up. Playing a 8AA schedule would mean trips to Sartel, St. Cloud, etc... I would think the school district is on the hook for any travel costs, and I thought that EGF has gone through some budget cuts within the district. But ma...

And I don't buy for a minute, that they are as good as the top AA teams. Why? If I may ask. Because I think the top AA teams are better, in all positions. Why are they better? Statistically, they stack up to teams like Wayzata... EGF is strong enough defensively. They don't allow many quality shots...

Two years ago, the group of soph/juniors of EGF took second at the state A bantam tourney... So you can take that for what it's worth...I think that Bowen and Eades would have been eligible to play on the bantam team, too, but played varsity, instead. Their success really isn't a surprise, especiall...

I think two players came into the program in PeeWees. I think the rest are Squirts or earlier.

The hit on Ranten was a good clean hit, and Ranten hopped right back up... I didn't think the Engelstad one was too bad either. He seemed to be looking back for the puck when Nelson hit him. Admittedly, I didn't have the greatest view, as people were standing in front of me, but I didn't notice a la...

Re: Class A Rankings 1-26-14

Yeah I agree that counting out Crookston would be a mistake. It would have been a sight to see if all of there players had stayed to play for them.. Paul bittner, Zach yon, and that EGF defenseman are all from Crookston. If those 3 had stayed, I think they would have been the favorites in 8A Even w...

Only one empty net goal. Good, physical game. Herdt is a heck of a player...EGF played a great defensive game, only giving up 8 or so shots over the last two periods. Outside of Herdt's goal, Moorhead really didn't have any quality scoring chances.

The hit at center ice honestly could have gone either way in my opinion. I can see where it seemed like Nelson may have left his feet a bit, but it didn't help that the other player (much smaller as well) had his head completely down with the puck which always make hits such as these look worse tha...

"EGF and H-town have more depth than Warroad" - wow ! Warroad has more wins than both of 'em - wonder wicht counts more at the end of the season ? Warroad has played two more games... Also, how can you argue the lack of depth that Warroad has? One line has almost 80% of the team's goals.....

Well, I think that the enrollments for the GF high schools is right around 1100, each...which I think would make them class 'A'...maybe I'm wrong... That being said...there's only one team from Grand Forks that I've seen in 17 years that would have been able to beat an elite AA team in Minnesota. Ot...

This weekend will go a very long way in showing us what kind of team EGF is...I haven't seen Hermantown or Breck, but they seem to be able to reload, rather than rebuild, every year, so I really don't have a problem with the rankings. Warroad seems to be a one line team, but wow...there's a lot of t...

I like to watch high school hockey. You never know what can happen. It will be nearly impossible for anyone to beat STA but that possibility is always out there. I think there are a couple of teams that will give them a run for their money. I am a Rochester Lourdes graduate so I'm pulling for them....

Once again the kid comes in with his head down. He was slow to get up but ok..

1-0 EGF 3 mins into the 3rd period.
#10 drives sprint cars, too...he's probably taken much harder hits there :P

But, yes, he got crushed...

Blake Nelson lays a big hit on TRFs captain, Englestad. They took him off on a stretcher. Hope him the best. biggest cheap shot to the head I have ever seen!! But that's warroad hockey for ya!! East Grand Forks...but could really be applicable to other towns.
