Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
Wise Old Man, I agree that Goldy’s points seem to be counter to what we’re hearing from most health care professionals (do we even know if he’s actually a health care professional? I seem to remember him previously stating that he was an AD or worked in an AD office years back, and he’s also a ref.....

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
Interesting WM. I’m not saying I don’t believe you! I’m just surprised it hasn’t made the news. Just even today I looked up any daycare cases having been spread and couldn’t find one story of it in the entire US other than two daycares in Texas that each had one case... which is not great of course ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
What would be your opinion if it were to be proven that child to adult transmission is extremely rare? There is some pretty good preliminary evidence that is suggesting this. Notably in Iceland (where they never shut schools down) there is not one documented case of transmission from child to adult...

WHO reports Asymptomatic spread of coronavirus is very rare. https://www.cnbc.com/2020/06/08/asymptomatic-coronavirus-patients-arent-spreading-new-infections-who-says.html #OpenMN Thanks for the article BB. Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
Also Minnesota hockey announced they are having a fall tier 1 season. Obviously things can change and that decision isn’t tied to schools being in session, but that combined with the U of M info is encouraging. When looking to what will happen in the fall/winter school and sports seasons, look less ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
Wise Old Man why don’t we see how summer training in sports and hockey specifically go, along with the schools that have already been open for a month in Europe with so far zero known outbreaks within the schools, before we start making conjectures about our winter. I guess the purpose of the thread...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
Your idea of testing everybody on the way in is certainly more effective, but I would argue on the cost comparison. Plus, if the bubble masks were required that cost would almost certainly be passed on to individual players and their family, much like a stick or most other other required equipment (...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
I’ve got a crazy idea that many may scoff at, but for hockey at least, can’t they just require kids to wear the plastic bubbles on their helmets? Won’t be perfect, as they have holes on the bottom, but essentially so do the nurse face shields. Obviously not a 100% solution for everything, but seems ...

Re: Will there be high school hockey for 2020-2021?
Spoke with a Northern Minnesota assistant principle today that I have a good relationship with and this person indicated that, at the moment, it doesn't look good for fall sports. When I asked about winter sports, this person wasn't much more confident. The reality is -- and my assistant principle ...

Re: NAHL Supplemental Draft
Still a whole other draft planned for this summer after, presumably, pre-draft camps take place. Was a good day for Minnesotans though.muckandgrinder65 wrote: ↑Tue May 12, 2020 9:21 pm Good to see some MN HS boys get drafted and are the same as tender going into main camps.
Only 81 players selected.

Re: CoVid-19
This thread is getting political. If that continues, it gets locked. Thanks Karl. Crazy that a pandemic turns political, but that’s the world we live in. I for one am excited to see updates on summer training programs that are on vs. canceled, inevitable summer transfers/early releases, and who kno...

Re: USHL Futures Draft May 4th
Most MN goalies spend at least a season or two in the NAHL before going to USHL. Some skip USHL all together. There’s probably more, but Jared Moe is one exception to this I can think of.

Re: US WHL Draft
The standard WHL Bantam Draft was the other day, and apparently Americans are still drafted there too? Anyhow, according to YHH, here are the ‘05 Minnesotans picked in this draft: R5 P110 (POR) Tanner Bruender (Chaska-Chan BAA) R6 P116 (KAM) Cooper Conway (Andover BAA) R7 P138 (VAN) Jack Hochsprung ...
Re: CoVid-19
Well said Lee. I do think there is a middle ground somewhere between “we will be shut down for the next 18 months until there’s a vaccine” and the apparently non-political  talking points of cigar. I’m guessing his participation in this thread is shut down or close to it, but I would like to r...

Re: Transfers 2020-21
I give it a 1 in 3 chance there is no hockey come October. No decision should be made on where to play early. I completely agree with this. I'm not sure how anything will happen until there's a vaccine. Relatedly, I don't think there will be any fall high school or college sports. There are other f...

Re: US WHL Draft
If even one plays in the "W" I'd be surprised.... not a normal path for most American dreams.. but again... everyone has a different path... Normally, you’re right. But we’ll see. This is the first US draft and it appears to be largely a response to NCAA recruiting rules. These kids are 2...

Re: 2019-20 Preseason SWEET SIXTEEN
How did I do? The Gentry 15 team did not end up filling the MSHSL roster, which was clear shortly after my projection when Lucius & Martin went to Plymouth. Beyond that....? This is interesting, beyond Gentry not terrible for most of the next 5. Obviously BSM didn’t fully live up to expectation...

Re: 3 Privates & EP walk into a pub
HS hockey fans will still watch, less of the average fans will though, and that makes up a pretty good portion of the typical viewership. Like was said above, you don’t have the town/community following either at the game or on tv as you otherwise would, but you also don’t have the same Cinderella ...

For Prior Lake the next two years are probably their years. They will have their chance. For Rosemount.......this was their year. Re: Section 2AA Seeding Discussion
You’ve been reading too much of the Dave Spehar parody. Not sure where all the 2AA conspiracy theorists came from. Seems like this section has been pretty spot on and straightforward for the last few years.
