Not sure I would be ready to give #2 seed to Greenway just yet. I agree it is early, and a lot could and likely will happen before playoffs, but looking at Hibbing and Greenway's schedules, it's hard to see how Greenway doesn't get the #2 seed without having at least one bad loss. The head-to-head ...

I've been listening to this, it does sound like Cloquet is taking it to them, but it is now 2-1 Delano.

The play-by-play guy almost goes into cardiac arrest every time Cloquet shoots the puck. He makes PA seem like a calm, reserved voice of balanced reason. :D

Good analysis / section summary's so far! It surprises me how far Denfeld has fallen. I know they graduated some numbers, but why can't they pull in more kids from the youth levels? Do other teams in the section have this issue? Is it time for a change at the top? I know Denfeld and Proctor suffer ...

Here are the latest 7A rankings. Overall record and 7A record are given for each team. 1. Hermantown- 5-1-1 (0-0) The Hawks dismembered TRF this week 9-0, and during their 5 game win streak they have outscored their opponents 33-3! They are heating up, and a QF game vs Bemidji at the Hilltopper Clas...

Here are the latest 7A rankings. Overall record and 7A record are given for each team. 1. Hermantown- 4-1-1 (0-0) The Hawks beat top ten AA team Minnetonka 4-1, then destroyed New Prague 8-1 to finish the week. Their only game this week is a road trip to TRF. The week after they will be in the Hillt...

Just have to say...in 3.5 years of this blog, this post has had exponentially more views than anything else I've ever written. I don't do it for the views, but just thought it was remarkable. I certainly didn't promote it any more than I normally do (this post here, a couple of tweets), and I've we...

5 Hibbing 1 Greenway Obviously the rankings of these 2 teams are going to change this week? Is Hibbing a top 5 team because of this? Is Greenway not a top 10 teams because of this? Should they both be in the 8-10 range? Hibbing 5-9, Greenway 8-12, IMO, having watched this game and also seen Hermant...

I agree with your assessment 100%, and especially with Clafton outcoaching himself. What is even stranger than not having Lantz and Troumbly together on a line is that Carlson, who I feel strongly is their 3rd best forward, was playing on the 3rd line! This meant he was on the ice for a limited amo...

Hibbing with a nice 5-1 win, shots were 21-20 Bluejackets. I certainly think Hibbing was the better team tonight, but I don't feel the final score is indicative of how the game went. Hibbing's goalie was solid, which was the real difference, IMO. Big section win for Hibbing, but no matter what happ...

Both of last year's contests were fantastic, with insane crowds and great electricity. Hibbing's 3,500 seat arena was nearly filled last year, but I think it will be less this year, for the reasons Karl gave. As for the matchup, here's my take: Forwards: Advantage Greenway - Hibbing does have a pote...

I think the biggest question is: Does Htown want to keep breezing to the A title game every year or do they want to compete in the AA playoffs against teams with levels of talent similar to theirs? I think Cloquet is still a year away from making serious noise in 7AA, due to the bulk of their talent...

With two weeks’ worth of games in the books, here are my latest 7A rankings. Overall record and 7A record are given for each team. 1. I agree with Karl that GR's main issue will be offensive depth, as they lost a ton of forwards to graduation. However, I am much more bullish on their defense. I think Heitkamp takes a big step this year as a junior, giving them two top flight defensemen, and I think Huson and Anderson are quality p...

Here’s my preseason thoughts on 7A. I would appreciate it if other 7A fans could correct my mistakes and help fill in important things I have missed. For 7A, my guess is: 1. Hermantown 2. Greenway 3. Hibbing 4. Virginia 5. Denfeld 6. North Shore 7. Eveleth-Gilbert 8. Proctor 9. I-Falls 10. Ely I think Greenway has the talent to be a top 5 A team, if they are able to get solid goaltending. They shouldn't lose to anyone other than Hermantown in 7A,...
