I think it bodes well for Minnesota Hockey, in spite of the the Chicken Littles out there ("we're losing ground to Tier 1 AAA and Canadian Juniors!) as well as the Grumpy Old Men ("kids should be fishing and golfing in the summer!") I've been doing some research on summer hockey else...

I don't have a dog in this fight, but it is interesting that NTDP seems to be very anti-WHL -- remember, any player who is in NTDP and leaves early is on the hook for $50K. I've been told that's primarily a disincentive to leave for Canadian juniors, and Canadian junior teams that are serious about ...

Yes, this was covered on another recent thread. The Old Guarde says that it's very expensive and compared to the tourneys we are used to here in Minnesota, rather anti-climactic -- i.e. mostly just immediate family can make it to nationals, whereas in Minnesota the whole association plus high school...

To be fair, it's not the Missota conference games they're losing --they were 11-2-1 this year in the conference. It's mostly D6 teams that are crushing them -- the teams they used to meet or beat at, for example, state. BSM, Tonka, Eden Prairie. Edina too. I've long said they should swap conferences...

Funny how people will ream players for jumping from team to team but not a head coach after just one or two years... following the dream is OK for a coach but not a skater? Personally, I think it's fine that BH is chasing his dream. Hagemo would be a great get, but probably represents the same risk ...

All I will say is: OHIO?! Ish. I hope they gave him a big huge skolly. Going from STA to USA to Ohio State is a bit anti-climactic, IMHO. Big doubts about the "BIG TEN" in hockey. It's a football and basketball conference. Ugh. I'm gonna miss the WCHA. Can't wait to see Iowa, Purdue, Nebra...

It's interesting to read sky-is-falling posts about college hockey implying the Gophers are somehow losing ground because Ohio State got a couple commitments. Seriously? Ohio State? They haven't exactly been setting the CCHA on fire. Even if these kids are All-World, wasn't this past weekend yet an...

Does Breakaway not have an 02 club? At 01, that's a nice group of players and coaches too.

Also, The Pond (or is it "Beyond the Pond") out of Rosemount. I would think with their killer squirt A's this year, they could put together a heck of an 02 group.

Maybe someone with inside knowledge can clarify what's going on with the 01 Blades versus 01 Sweet Hockey Selects, Lance Pitlick's teams??? Re: Ted Brill Senior Cuts and Final Team Announced

Adam Johnson. Is out who's your next pick I will bet your wrong. ' Not sure who said this, but it's interesting. Like many others, I was super impressed with Johnson at State in 2012, and yet he's been .... well, let's just say under-performing ever since then, to the eye of a disinterested observe...

I know a big rangey defenseman from a state champion hockey team of a few years back. 6'2", 190# great hands, smooth skater. He also happened to be an elite soccer player, and wanted to play soccer in college, so he rarely played summer hockey, couldn't participate in elite league or HP. That w...

Thanks Bo I had some questions about this as well. Is HP the same as Selects and does anyone know the cost or who coaches and which venue? The HP 14/15 information page is here: http://www.minnesotahockey.org/page/show/753126-high-performance-14-15 It has contact info for Pat Westrum, the director.

I have always said we would see the biggest results at the B level. Peewee B's saw four small associations make it to State -- Johnson/Como, North Metro, Moose Lake, and Hallock. None of these teams would likely have made it to state without the AA/A split because Wayzata, OMG, Tonka, Edina and othe...

Would be great if someone at these games would post during games if possible - can't be there! Aggh! Thanks! You can check MNSportsNetwork.com as they are actually webcasting all A and AA games (no B games, unfortunately). Even if you can't see the video (it's very wonky anyway), they appear to be ...

I guess it's probably a good thing that the Gov. Dayton thread got locked -- hate it when this board goes political, IMO it's a lose/lose no matter what your personal political preferences. Edina regularly plays more than 40 games at squirt A. Last year, they were loud and proud about being 40-0 by the end of February.

I've heard they simply pay the fine --- something like $200-$400 -- levied by D6. Maybe a cake-eater on the board can confirm.

It's not uncommon to run the last or first resurface with many or most of the rink lights off. Also, many Zambonis in older rinks are emptied outside on a dark winter's night out past the parking lot. You definitely want the lights on then. (Even a newer rink with a snow pit will dump outside if the...
