I must saying that going through the course made me question whether or not I want to coach. The section(s) on abuse of players by coaches showed some ugly but necessary truths. On the one hand, I want my sons playing in a safe atmosphere where predatory behavior is caught ASAP, on the other I can s...

I think it sunk in that they simply don't get the talent. On the rare occasion they do, it's scooped by a private. Big, successful associations can withstand the pilfering by privates. It KILLS smaller associations/ high schools. Spare me........ This is America (I think) and I can send my kid to a...

Edina Open Both internal(Edina coaches) and external evaluators. Coach selected. I do feel that Evals should be part if the process, but there aren't written Evals in Edina. Of course there is always anecdotal info passed along. You're talking semantics. We have many cases where a top player is inju...

This team was dominant for the lst month. Get used to it. Edina gets better as the eyars roll along. This dominant group of Edina seniors is the only class in a five-year stretch (from last year's grads to next year's frosh) who failed to win a State Bantam or PeeWee Championship as second years. N...

I wonder if they were overrated because of their blowout wins against LN and Stillwater, two teams that weren't used to the spotlight. I would've like to have seen them play HM, DE, and possibly EP. Unless there are a lot of departures, I don't see Edina's dominance ending anytime soon. There are so...

Agree that the Bantams should've had 2 B1's. The Peewee group is talented this year. They have 4 C teams, 4 B2's, and 4 State eligible teams, which is exactly what the USAH recommends. At the Squirt level the B and C teams are about average in D6 . There is a few reasons for this, but the main one i...

Squirt C game. Slow clear rolls down into opponents zone. Goalie comes way out and pounces on puck about halfway between net and blue line, then decides to cover it up when he sees a mix of his and other team's players bearing down on him, though I'd say they are still a good 20 feet away at this po...

I've found the officiating in Bantam D6 to be extremely tight. 2 and 10's are handed out like candy. At this point I think they might as well just go to non checking, as it more accurately describes what is being officiated, for the most part. There are some good refs in D6. One in particular breaks...

The Edina Squirt program as a whole is extremely healthy with 13 teams, up from 9 just a few years ago. They have made a conscious effort to have more teams at the A and B levels ( 2 and 6, as opposed to 1 and 4 in recent years)' resulting in slightly lesser results than in previous years. Time wil...
