Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A
You are the one that started the thread, I somewhat agree you are trolling, let the coaches, kids and alumni figure it out! leave the cheap shots somewhere else time to move on. Not sure you are for the kids or an advocate of the former coach, leave the boys to figure it out! A program with 5 ex NHL...

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A
Off topic somewhat, but this idea that East-CEC remains an iconic rivalry doesn't jibe with reality. While recent games have been exciting, the crowds continue to disappoint. When it's played in Cloquet, the arena's half-full at best. The latest installment at Heritage Center was about two-thirds f...

Re: CEC boys High School Hockey to A
Yes. I realize the 2 East games would be gone each year. Enter....the Hermantown Hawks. Virginia Blue Devils. Greenway Raiders. Warroad. East Grand Forks. Etc. hopefully other program that opt up would see through the blah, blah, blah. Kids just want to have fun. You know. Remember being a kid. All...

Re: Hermantown sophomore class
Its very simple. East will not play them until they go AA. If the other AA teams refused to play them also they would be forced to go AA. What do the AA teams have to gain by playing them??

Re: 7AA 2018-2019
Guessing Elk will move out of 7AA, only question is 8AA or 5AA. You could make a logic case for each . Doubtful , But possibly a tweak re-organization of 6 AA and 5 AA might accompany the decision? I agree with you metro. It would be Elk River who leaves. But, I do think Duluth Marshall will be opt...

Coach Mike Randolph. That’s all you need to say about Duluth East. That teams competes no matter the talent. Coach Randolph turns those boys into the “right” players every year no matter the talent level. So enlighten me, when has Duluth East not had talent?? Maybe 50 years ago That’s a good point....

Kniven CEC beat and tied East last year, right? This year, CEC overall talent is quite a bit better, and DE a little bit less? So we should expect 3 wins against the Hounds this year? #simpleWManalysis 😀 Coach Mike Randolph. That’s all you need to say about Duluth East. That teams competes no matte...

Re: Summer Hockey Notes by KarlEast
Last weekend’s Summer Hockey Festival at Braemar Arena in Edina offered a brief dose of hockey for those of us in need of some midsummer action. Twenty teams battled it out over the course of three days, giving the world its first real looks at Janne Kivihalme-coached Lakeville South, a somewhat im...

Re: 2018 elite league
Well, I say this as repeating what hundreds of hockey people tell me from all over the state of hockey. I’ve followed CEC home and away, like a puppy dog, to literally every game since 2010-2011. One of my favorite things to do at these rinks is talk to the locals at these rinks. Maybe it’s the opi...

Re: Lumberjacks..
I agree, what's good about Smalley is he lets the boys play, look for Cloquet to return to prominence under his watch, no ego in it for the kids, here is a prediction that this is the best Cloquet team ever, under Smalleys watchful eye. Interesting quote........... If you think for 1 second the Lum...

Welcome back 59, a two month vacation from posting? A super Huskie returning lineup, and Fritz may be the best goalie in the state next season. Way to shoot for the moon Kniven! Re: Is Greenway turning into Hermantown?
Well, I guess we will find out soon enough. If Smalley leaves CEC, I wonder who the Lumberjacks would be looking at. I don’t think Smalley is going anywhere. I also don’t think he applied for CSS job Anybody hear from a source that Smalley is interested in Wilderness head coaching job? It does make...

I’m not sure what public policy regarding busing outside a district you are referring to. Greenway buses go through Rapids and vice versa. Greenway is a big loser to Rapids in open enrollment. Rapids buses pick up these kids in Greenway. I stand corrected. It appears it’s up to each individual scho...

Re: Who are the finalist for the Saints job ?
Pretty quiet up here. Smalley is returning to Cloquet to the relief of many, look for former Fairbanks coach(West) to take over at St Scholastica Hey folks, here's my latest intel on the CSS job. First, not sure if SP is hearing that Lance (West) is the favorite based on his own info or, just trust...
