I don't understand all the "Hermantown must move to AA" angst. Is 6 straight trips to the state tourney finals impressive? Of course, but how many times have they won it all? Until they run off 3-4 championships in a short period of time, I think let them play where they want to. Should East Grand ...

in my opinion the AA / A system is set up for only 1 weekend a year. State Tournament time. To get away from the A teams playing an All AA schedule, until section time, they should make it mandatory that if you claim to be an A team your schedule needs to reflect that. At least half, or more, of th...

Re: Go north

:
Hermantown would be the best environment for a transfer without question. They have more transfers there than any program in the State. So you already have a support group and community within a community. You don't have to worry about the coaches either because a lot of them don't live th...

One part of the equation I haven't seen discussed... is the A tournament is open seating where the whole town amongst friends can sit together. The kids can too with all their friends....priceless. Just show up, buy a ticket. Versus the AA tourney and assigned scalped nose bleed seats and a bunch of...

As stated above we don't keep all our talent many seem to head to DM, 1 goalie to GR this year too. If you have a son in Squirts then you know that you pull in a ton of talent at the Youth Level as well, so don't play dumb. Your best 1st year Squirt lives in Gary-Morgan Park. Your best PeeWee lives...

Tezer, As a former teammate of yours and now Hermantown resident I feel that I might add some perspective. Stating the obvious...our HS enrollment is 630. Half the size of Mahtomedi. We typically have barely enough kids tryout to fill both HS and JV. Our Bantam and PeeWee AA's did not crack the top...

A good measure for the Hermantown's, Bemidji's etc is to make a swing through the cities and play the Edina's, St Thomas' (:):) ), Eden Prarie's, Hill Murray's, Wayazata's , etc to get a true gage on the team. Duluth East makes the journey and I think its a great move to prepare them for later on i...

We will always field a strong top 6...and have 1-2 good D men, but after that the vast majority of years we will not match up well against AA with kids coming out of their ears. That is the difference.

As long as your top 35 try out, who cares? Players 36-100 don't really matter, do they? How many tried out in Roseau this year?
Probably about the same...and one could argue they would likely not be in St.Paul now in class A let alone AA. They have a great tradition but I would be amazed if ...

Quarters of the A tourney are rarely competitive. There are always 2 weak sections...There are 4 teams in section 7A alone that would have beaten SLP badly. Can't blame the Hawks boys for beating an unranked team.

East beat you with a Proctor kid Al. Worth is the best kid his age in the area. He played PeeWees all the way through Proctor. Hermantown recruited the hell out of him, but his parents chose East instead. I'm looking forward to watching this kid play in the future, he's a stud!
I'm calling B...

To be like Shattuck is impossible. The reason Shattuck works, in addition to the fact it is a real, sit down, classroom school with a long history and great campus area is because they had the original vision and were able to draw the very best athletes there. Shattuck doesn't make the players grea...

Good news for Tier 1 players...NHL scouts do not attend the MSHSL Hockey tourney and do not change their rankings bases on this tournament. This probably explains why all top juniors and seniors leave. The MSHSL tourney may be cute to watch on tv, but the real players are not there. Camarrata, Guen...
