Re: Goldy with the grain
Keep it up slappy. I know you're entertaining yourself and plenty of others. But, that doesn't make me wrong, does it? <p></p><i></i>

I was asked to provide grounds for the parroting comment, and I feel pretty confident that I did that.<br><br>As for the PageStat2 ratings, they are a good system, but no system can be perfect. The example of Moorhead beating Warroad and them being 2-1 in the rankings is a perfect example of that. T...

Re: Against the Grain
Joe, take a look at page 6 of this thread. That's where you decided it was more fun to just mimic slapshooter than make your own arguments (which previously, in this thread, were actually quite good). <br><br>"Well, that pretty much seals it. SS has uncovered the cold, hard facts. Pretty diffic...

Re: 'little boys' in 'Big Boys' contest...by SS
I didn't realize that slapshooter had the password to joe lulic's account. Or are you really that much of a sycophant? Keep up the good work though, Joe, and blatantly ignore the fact that small schools have been winning the state tournament for years. Which, of course, is absolutely the reason we s...

Re: Cold, hard and against the grain
Right, because we all know that Orono has played some tough teams and done really well. Same with Warroad for that matter. 0-2 vs. the top 10? Great work.<br><br>Tulane was undefeated in football a few years ago. I guess by your logic they were the best team in football, even if they never had to be...

Re: State
Similarly, lucky for Warroad that they won't have to contend with Moorhead or the rest of AA on their march to the state title, eh? Or is that too "with the grain"? <p></p><i></i>

Re: Who Is The Best
As long as we're saying that, year in and year out, a couple class A teams could compete with the top AA teams, that's fine with me. But, if we're going to say that those state titles are equal in stature, I'm drawing the line there. It's perfectly fine with me to have Warroad believe they are the b...

Re: 2 classes
You and I both know that you don't think those titles deserve equal respect, slapshooter. Take a look at the paths that the AA teams have to take to win the title and the paths that the A teams have to take, and the difference is laughable. Look at what Anoka had to do last year vs what Warroad had ...

Re: They got grain
Warroad has only played 2 top ten AA teams, and they lost them both. One of these losses was at home. That is not the sign of a state champ. Sure, a state champ can lose games, but they win the games they play against the best teams when it counts. Since Warroad will not face a team of Moorhead's ca...

Re: class a
Nobody ever said that good players can't come from Class A schools. But, I think it's pretty obvious that among the top 50 teams in the state, a vast majority of them are AA teams. High school hockey supremecy is not determined by one or two individuals. Just as the 2002-03 Anoka Tornadoes.<br><br>N...

Re: a and aa
Are you going to tell me that there have been no exceptions made for any of the players on those teams to get in with questionable grades? I doubt it. At any rate, I'd say future Crimson Mike Taylor would have had no problem getting into any of those schools. The point remains: just because the scho...

Re: petey1321, love ya man but...GOTCHA Again..by SS
I don't mean to rag on these teams. If there's one thing even I'll admit about Class A, it allows teams like Wadena Deer Creek to actually have a chance to win a bunch of games, and there's a lot more chances for people to play. I just have very little patience for teams that dominate Class A (espec...

Re: ssm
Finn has it right, here. If you reassembled the '86 Blades under John Arko and took them on a 50 game season, they would be regularly handing SSM its lunch. Shattuck has some great players, to be sure, but I'd take Mike Taylor or Justin Bostrom over all of them (and so would the scouts who picked th...

Re: jwatching..excellent 1st post. watch your back.. by SS
Yeah, the Class A champion should get to play the Class AA champion to determine the true champion. And then Duke's men's team can face Duke's women's team to see who the best basketball team is (because they've obviously faced the same obstacles to win those titles, given that they are of equal val...

Re: Hard Rain's Fallin' on Class AA today by SS
Sorry, oldschool, but South St. Paul doesn't really represent any sort of AA hockey. They never won the single class tourney (just like Warroad, for that matter), and they now went down to Class A because their numbers allowed them to do so. Any decent team can beat any other team on any given night...

Overcrowded "sespools"? You are referring, of course, to the metro area that routinely finishes in the top 5 of every sort of quality of life survey that anybody does, correct? If you want to live in the sticks, that's fine, that's your business, but don't start thinking that the hockey is...

Re: a and aa
Of course, Warroad did wonderful things in the one-class system, didn't they? I'm sorry if the drive is too long; that's about the only excuse they can have for sticking around in Class A. But, to suggest that getting out of 8A is as difficult as staring down Warroad in 8AA is absurdity to the utmos...

I can't remember who scored it. Maybe Checco, maybe MacDonald, but whoever scored to send it into OT against Cloquet with about a minute left, that's got to be it. That was the goal that the threepeat possible and kept alive the eventual 60 game unbeaten streak. The OT goal, of course, wasn't bad ei...
