2000 4AA Semifinals. Paul Martin's #1 ranked Elk River team goes up 4-0 to start the game only to watch Osseo come all the way back to win 5-4. That ER team was probably the best team since 1993 Bloomington Jefferson. Better than their 2001 team that won the AA tourney. Blaine went on to win 5AA and...

DubCHAguy LPH New rankings out. 4A Contenders SSP #5 AA #11 SPU #14 Looks like the coaches still have you as clear favorites in 4A. Don't lose any sleep. Thanks although my only connection to SSP is knowing a few of the parents and seeing them play once this year. We all know LPH rankings mean noth...

Re: Girls JV vs U14A - Which is Better?
Looking for some opinions on what is better purely from a development perspective, playing U14A as an 8th/9th grader or playing JV as an 8th/9th grader? Throw out cost and convenience for the purposes of this conversation. Coaching, ice time, etc. being equal I would say U14A. Longer season and gen...

Re: STA
Fact is STA stood at a meeting and argued that they best belong in a conference where they have gone 52-4 in football and 105-13-3 (100-2-3 if we don't include their 5-11 vs. Hill-Murray) in hockey the past 8 years. They could have argued for placement in the SEC or SSC where they would obviously f...

AA has two main Section foes TG and SSP. TG being private can recruit or maybe we are nice and use the word attract just like AA. SSP has done its share of attracting girls (or their parents) to their school. Is this still true or a thing of the past? Of the players listed on this year's SSP Varsit...

Re: Guentzel
Speaking of Guentzel. My Hill Murray heart breaks thinking of what could have been had not Guentzel (3rd Rd) and Blake Heinrich (5th Rd) left for the USHL for their Sr years. State tourney runner-up? I don't think so. Imagine the that sweet 1st line from 2012 still intact (Jr) Guentzel - (Jr) Laval...

some nice players NOT 1 is on any NHL GM's must have list  I think the point that was plenty of good players aren't high picks or don't even get drafted at all. And plenty (actually, the majority) of draft picks never see the NHL. Also, you don't think the Vezina winner, the runner up, the NH...

High School hockey is really falling off the map is it not? It seems to get worse every year. Ten high schoolers is not good. I would put your count down to two or three HS players as most left early for opportunities elsewhere. 8 drafted either played out their HS years or are still in HS. Good to...

Pretty cocky considering STA hasn't won the Classic Suburban outright in any of the mainstream sports (Soccer, Football, Bball, Hockey, Wrestling, Baseball, Track) since fall of 2011 (Football), which went on to lose to SSP (who they didn't play during that CSC season) during sections. That said, th...

I'm not thinking any specific team. I'm looking at quality of play/players of Tier 1 Elite Hockey League U18 vs. anything south of Lakeville. Not many HS teams can hang with the top 30-40 or so Midget Major teams. Usually the top 10-12 AA schools and this year STA and Hermantown could fit in, but t...

My point that many people often ignore is that many people make a decision about high school 10 or more years before a child gets to the school. One of the top things people look at in buying a house is where their child will go to [high] school. This goes the same for public and private schools. U...

I think he's suggesting although not impossible it's nutty. It's why the privates end up with a lot of players, and parents, with issues. My point that many people often ignore is that many people make a decision about high school 10 or more years before a child gets to the school. One of the top t...

Add Novak to the 5 Minnesotans. I'd be very surprised if he didn't make the team. Great Player. I wonder why he wasn't listed? Late add because someone else declined the invite to the tryout? Kids get invited that don't accept. Do you think he'll accept if invited? He's on the list. His hometown is...

Because as with Sta, Breck will not be able to win it without getting help from the refs. 8) Am I missing something with the end of the STA/Herm game? Hermantown player pulls a STA player down with the puck, gets a well deserved (albeit very stupid) penalty. During ensuing power play two players fi...

Before reading below, be noted that I didn't care who won the game yesterday (I'm not an STA guy in least bit). Just some observations from the stands. My issue was post game with the award ceremony: 1) Pionk taking his helmet off and slamming his helmet down when announced for all tournament team ...
