Re: The State of North American Midget Hockey

As part of a GIS research study investigating HS/Midget age hockey teams, college students performed a least squares adjustment of the North American 2014-15 game data. The data that was collected spanned 5,190 teams (US & CAN High School/Midget) ranging in ages from 18 to 15. Approximately 79,...

Timer has it another Plante will step in when he retires after the season. Derek Plante played at umd and was a great player. Derek would be a great choice. If he's interested I imagine the job would be his. Scott Pionk is another local guy from Proctor who lives in Hermantown now and has one kid l...

I also thought the idea of "rewarding" Hermantown with a game was stupid at first, but then I thought about it and I agree. Hermantown has nothing to lose by playing East. The Hawks are an A team, so if they beat the big time AA team, they get all the accolades and can say they were the b...

Denfeld is the only A team East plays. No Hermantown either for how many years, why is that also? Wonder if Randolph thinks they should be playing with the big boys in AA and they refuse to schedule them until they do so. Yes, that is why he doesn't play Hermantown and didn't play Marshall until th...

Marshall is now AA and East can't avoid playing them. East hasn't avoided playing Class A Denfeld all along, so Marshall's previous Class A status can't be the reason why they hadn't played in more than a decade, until now. Must have been something more to it. Denfeld is the only A team East plays....

More of a history than a preview of the future, but I think this is relevant: http://apatientcycle.com/2015/03/18/a-history-of-twin-cities-urbanism-as-told-by-high-school-hockey/ Thank you, very interesting read. But Duluth East the Edina of the North? As much as my friends out East probably enjoy ...

Something is fishy. 18-19-22 all played this is there top scoring line. I just talked to a greeny and that is true. From what he said proctor could of had 3 more like the then state leading scorer in 19 and it would have made no difference. Their top line and top three scorers are Dahlgren, Malec a...

Re: Proctor

Did anyone see what happened at Greenway? I expected this to be a good game. I did hear there horses where on the rink and never really mounted any threat? It looked like they may be a contender? Proctor's top line Center and Left Wing didn't play in the game. I assume it would have been closer but...

I still think Hermantown should move up to AA given the quality of their program. The biggest thing to me is trying to find an answer to the question of why don't they want their kids to get a good hard challenge? I get that they play a few decent AA teams most years so you could say that they do g...

   I knew about the other three but didn't realize that Aamodt lived in the Proctor school District also. The Rails would already have their Hotel Rooms booked in St. Paul with those four. Lane Krenzen lives in the Proctor District too but his parents went to Marshall so I'm su...

Exactly. What seems to get lost in Plante's "homegrown kids" monologues is that Hermantown is a suburb of Duluth. There are 3 AA schools (East, Marshall, Superior) and one of the largest A schools (Denfeld) all within a 10 minute drive of Hermantown. This is not small town hockey. The pro...

How's that working for 0-5 Marshall and their AA move? They lose to unranked single A team Proctor?! All while taking kids from all around the northland to include Wisconsin? 😙 I think they deserve even more credit for that. They moved up knowing they had their weakest team in years. All with an ey...

Hats off to Marshall for making the move. This is really going to build up their program. I watched them play Proctor on Tuesday night. They have a lot of good young talent and the Krenzen kid is fun to watch. They had one forward line of all Freshmen and they have some good players in Bantam AA in ...

Proctor 4 Duluth Marshall 3 (OT) Big win for the Rails. State's leading Scorer Jake Malec with the Hat Trick. Marshall out shot them but not a lot of good scoring chances. Rails up 3-2 with 2:05 left and took a penalty. Krenzen got the equalizer on the PP. That kid is a fun player to watch. He got l...

He will play Saturday. Shouldn't need any more information than that.

Article is nanny-state b.s. stuff. A couple of UM researchers write a paper and the Strib presents it as the American Medical Association has come out recommending football be abolished. Maybe I should write a paper on the concussion dangers of soccer (which is statistically true) and the Strib can...
