EGF
There is no indication that the community is pushing him out. That community does not have a history of micromanaging coaches. I'm sure they will find a quality replacement. They have a strong tradition and feeder system and I have no doubt they will remain competitive. Outside Moorhead and until re...

EGF
I admit it isn't fair to judge a person without all the information. I'm sure the community of East Grand Forks is happy with two state championships and that Hermantown would have wished Palmiscino wasn't there. We spend a lot of time talking about kids staying home and playing high school hockey. ...

EGF Coaching
Makes you wonder how bare the cupboards will be at EGF? At first glance Scott Oliver would seem the logical choice if he wants the job. That said, Financial planning must be pretty good in EGF; or no goal tending and one returning d might add to changing priorities.

On the Red River in Front of Whitey's
This might be my favorite. I only see a couple problems.... In December you might have a problem with thin ice on the river... Personally, I think it could be a minor problem. The other problem is the wind, nothing like a nice 30mph wind to skate into. Its like skating up a 30 floor building... Nice...

State HS Championship is The best tournament: BUT
I'm in the minority because I love Single A Hockey and have seen the talent jump in quality. It is time to put the Championship A and AA back to back on Saturday night. The EGF-Hermantown game was played at such a high level that that game deserved to be played in prime time. Come on MSHL..... Make ...

Breck and STA
Tired excuses.... Looking for someone to blame... Last two losses at State were to EGF, a public school with a smaller enrollment than Hermantown and barring a miraculous finish this year both of those were in convincing fashion... EGF played two one goal games in sections and faced tough competitio...

Top lines
Watching every game of the Tournament. I watched a lot of hockey... While Playing in the A tournament the top line of Bowen, Loven, and Tweten looked to be the best line in the state. I know that Malmquist went down for Edina and the Lakeville North line is outstanding. I saw Karl'sEast description ...

Joking aside
Sadly, Hermantown may be the best Minnesota A team over the last 6 years, they haven't been the best team in any of those years. Call it luck, curse or whatever. This season, they won their last 25 before the final. But EGF was better in March. Neither Mahtomedi or Hermantown could match up with EGF...

EGF
I think its interesting question if Tweten and Loven come back. Two state titles it would be easy to jump to the USHL. Both have strong community ties and I hope they stay. Its was hardly a secret that Bowen was going to relocate seven miles to the west, nor has there been any secret both are on Hak...

Gutty performances.
The only thing better than the amazing comeback from Hermantown was EGF's ability to maintain composure. I'm not sure EGF was the deepest team but they had more top end talent. Hats off to EGF coaching staff! Palmiscino and Oliver put it together after losing their top 4 D'men last season. They out ...

On the bashing bandwagon
A couple points: What was Plante thinking, as everyone agrees, that was shameful. I don't hate Hermantown, or their players. I dislike teams being classless. EGF had beaten down Hermantown last year and had them 7-2 with five minutes to play and EGF dumped the bench. I'm not sure what Plante Proved ...

making it up as he goes
"Dixon Bowen's one weakness has been his skating" Bowen might have been the best skater in the state last year. He could have simply stated that Bowen focused on becoming an even stronger skater... If anyone could look at Bowen last year or this and identify skating has ever been a problem, you are ...

Wickets...
He seems to have a strange fascination for Wickets. But I'm waiting for his savvy quote, "You can't give a good player a bad pass." I know it's only two games into the tournament, but I know it is coming.
I trust he wont disappoint me.

seeding
In My Humble Opinion: Hermantown would be seeded 4th. Mahtomedi #5 EGF #8 Breck #11 SPL would be 16 New Ulm #15 New Prague#14 Apollo#13 I wish they would do this and if they were to utilize this format I would hope that the first round would pit A 1-8 and AA1-8 and then re-seed them. I think EGF-Edi...

Not all great games were finals or by the champions

IMHO, it is the greatest article written about the Minnesota State Hockey tournament: Sports Illustrated, by EM Swi...

bemidiji
Ok, this is easy, everyone from anywhere but Edina wants Bemidji. I saw them lose to EGF ( I know they split), and they got lit up by Hermantown. (Elliot, I know there were 4 players gone for those games). But Bemidji's was hardly convincing at home. They trailed 1-0 going into the third when they h...

egf
My guess is that New Prague is not used to the speed they are going to see. Detroit Lakes was clearly better than anyone expected and TRF's had played them twice before and had a good team and a chance to prepare. Not to forget, EGF had a double OT section final last season as well. EGF and Breck sh...

Everyone loves the northern teams for several reasons. 1. Metro teams hate and distrust each other. Everyone has two favorite teams, theirs and the teams playing other metro teams. 2. There is almost always the David and Goliath component to playing northern schools. 3. Northern programs have tradit...

Top five
I know everyone has conceded the tournament to Hermantown, but not so fast. This is the most balanced top 5, I've seen in Single A. The Best: 1. Hermantown: target firmly on their back and hasn't really been challenged for a couple months (I would imagine they have little ghosts talking in their hea...

EGF
Yes they are more vulnerable defensively. They lost 4 d'men that could all play college hockey. That said, they have a goal against average of 1.7 or 40 goals in 24 games. TRF's has scored 2 and had 35 shots against them in 102 minutes. EGF isn't as good as last year. I think there offense has suffe...
