if you check hub for who's been scoring for edina since the first of the year, it's been spreading out more. the jefferson game saw 5 hornets goals with none coming from hurley or malmquist (though both contributed with assists). with the scoring seeming to be spread out more, I think that will give...

How about the MSHSL steps-up and lets Pete Waggoner live stream the seeding announcements and "random draw" showing who seeds 1-3 will play? Take the mystery out of the 1 vs 8, 2 vs 7 and 3 vs 6 match-ups. Hell have a pay per view event and sell tix for admission w/ popcorn to make the to...

YHH posts hundreds of stories a year (yes hundreds)...all based in facts. We have had millions of views (yes millions). January and February are our most viewed months by far. Why would we all of a sudden post a story filled with lies? Especially from an audience (high school) that isn't really in ...

Redlight, what two teams were playing and what was the date? I understand the intent of your questioning, but don't you think that releasing that information, if known, is crossing lines having the do with privacy of minors, let alone breaking rules of this forum? I don't know where you draw the li...

To help clarify some of the article here goes. This incident happened in a jv game which was played AFTER the varsity game that night. The team that lost the varsity game sent out varsity starters including a senior captain in the jv game to send a message (yes, to a transfer player). Those varsity...

[quote="green4" The Tweets sound beyond sarcastic while they're trying to pass them off as kids encouraging to hurt one another This was my reaction, too. While it's possible it was sincere, anyone with much knowledge of high school Twitter use knows it's a realm of heavy sarcasm and a lo...

We produce articles every day. All based in fact and/or opinion. In fact, there are nearly 1,000 posts on our site. If you comb through them, you will find we rarely gossip, we rarely use MNH hockey officials names, etc. It is just not our schtick. Most of our stuff is to glorify the good kids by n...

intent to injure

Yes, that is very troubling that players take pleasure in injuring fellow hockey players. Whoever found the Tweets should also publicize the Twitter handle. Otherwise, whoever wrote the story is complicit in allowing this to continue as a protector of these poor reasons for hockey players. Public di...

Great game to watch....Both teams came to play. Been noticing a pattern. Even though Edina regularly has been winning the SOG derby in their games (2:1 tonight), they either have lost the big games or have scraped by by one goal. Anybody have some insight on this? Also factor in the goal Edina had ...

Love em all, but I'd have to say O'Leary is the obvious choice and Dziedzic would be the dark horse.

Unfair advantage for Grand Rapids?

So, why did the Grand Rapids bench have hand-warming contraptions for Saturday's outdoor game and the Benilde bench did not?

I have seen close to 100 games already this year - Jr's, HS and Bantamm AA - and it seems when you are not pulling for a specific team, the ref's tend to get it right more times than not. In those games did the ref's make some questionable calls - sure they did. That said, they got it right most of...

Re: refs keeping up

What's the beef about "not keeping up" ??? Please explain.. Keep this in mind, When you start learning the officiating side of the game, you will find out there is a "system" that officials work within on each type of game (2 man, 3 man). In the case of a "3 man system"...

Refs and the speed of the game

Borrowing from the STA-BSM string:
I think in general the speed of top end games is beyond the current stable of refs to keep up. They are getting run over and cannot keep up with play. Something for the mhsl to look which is unlikely.
I've seen this quite a bit lately, most recentl...

HSHOCKEYWatcher- your analysis was brutal. Zone play was 50 50. Sprang let in 2 soft goals early, Benilde had double the scoring chances. The no goal was not put in by another player the initial shot hit goalie glove and went in. I don't like to complain about refs but this was one of the worst off...
