As someone from Cloquet, it's a little hard to pick East in any game but.. I can see the same 4-1 score from last season's section final, especially if the Greyhound defense plays as well in front of it's net as they did against Andover. OK, so I was off by a goal.. .. No offense to Elks fans but E...

I haven't had a chance to see Anders Franke play yet, how good is he? Somebody that knows him really well told me that he's been contacted by the Gophers already...Is that legit? If it is.. Lucia has yet more problems besides people calling for his head on 'gpl' .. college coaches aren't supposed t...

dont ask me anything ryno you always have something to whine about GAME OVER does anybody know why it was disallowed? saw the light on. or is game over suppose to mean have the thing locked? The goal judge.. one of the top local refs, made a hand signal to the ref when asked, to tell him that the n...

The game was a fun physical game to watch as a non-partisan hockey fan..plenty of hard hits and speed, and student sections going back and forth. The Hibbing goaltender didn't have a real good night though.. the first goal.. he went down to his knees and kicked a puck in that had hit the boards behi...

I just hope they can turn it on again after turning it off when they got up 6-0 on Finland...I don't mean to say they should have tried to score 15 goals or anything.. but in a short tournament like this I would have liked to see them keep the pressure up and not lose any momentum with Canada the fi...

Since Forest Lake, and then Andover were never really in either game competitively, the crowd was way down from a normal section semi-final crowd. Elk River scored a short handed goal and that took Forest Lake's crowd down a notch from what started out pretty good.. their team (Forest Lake) wasn't a...

I had the wrong angle for a better picture.. but Turner stopping Courtney Esse on a breakaway in the first period.. would have made it a much different game had Esse got that one in the net early. http://www.viewthroughmylens.net/Galleries/CloquetSports/GirlsHockey/09-10/PlayoffVsNorthernStars/Girls...

Duluth beat CEC 2-1 here in Cloquet and gets Elk River down there at 3 pm tomorrow. Paige Turner beat them once.. can she do it on their ice?

John Scheuer was huge in net for the Jacks.. He got some defense help clearing pucks unlike a couple other games where he stopped every first shot. They also let him actually SEE the puck, where he's been screened pretty bad in some games and never saw pucks that ended up in the net. The entire CEC ...

CEC Girls Vs Hibbing/Chisholm

I've gone back to shooting with the on camera flash because shooting ambient at ISO 3200 creates some crappy prints.. a few technical flaws in these that are my own fault (shot a couple parents night shots then didn't change a couple things.) Blew out some white on jerseys because of not changing se...

Since it's only a minor detail and not really worthy of a new thread for it.. CEC and Andover were tied at 1 until Andover scored with 19 seconds in the third left for the win this afternoon. John Scheuer for the Lumberjacks stopped at least 30 (I forgot to write it down) shots, and had good defensi...

Why are people against the girls playing at the excel? Money? attendance? The attendance won't go up because you change the venue, actually I think it will be just the opposite as alot of people might want to come and see the excel. There is something out there called title IX also that you need to...

CEC knocked off Duluth tonight 2-0... pretty much giving me the impression that the Northern Stars will be the 5th seed and head out on the road for the (first round anyway) playoffs.... Thinking it will probably be 1. PHM 2. GRG 3. CEC 4. Elk River (Mostly because of Duluth beating them I put them ...

I may have too much biase by being in the area, but I'd actually like the girls tourney to travel every couple years, especially with the new Duluth DECC Arena opening next December. I know it probably will never happen but it would be nice for the sport to be showcased in different areas sometimes.

DHMN- You could not be more incorrect. I'm sure you think you have seen a parent or five lose control in your day, but you honestly haven't seen anything until you've witnessed Turner's dad in action. Go check out a Northern Stars game sometime. Trust me, it won't take you long to figure out who he...

It was definately a different game. Thought PHM just had more depth. Duluth's goalie is the real deal and kept them in the game despite the conditions. It was sad to see her dad chewing her out after the game for "playing a terrible game". Had his daughter in tears. Just a shame! I felt b...

Definitely wasn't a game to REALLY take anything from concerning 7AA .. though it'll still be considered a game against each other, and BOTH teams did have to compete on the same ice. Once they decided to clean the ice at TV timeouts Duluth carried a lot more of the play, at least from what I saw on...
