Looks like it will end up as follows;

1. Marshall
2. Mirage
3. I Falls
4. CEC
5. Hibbing
6. Moose Lake
7. Eveleth
8. North Shore

I think the top 2 are strongest teams but any of the top 6 could pull off an upset. I Falls has been on fire as of late.

I think at the 1/4 pull the top 2 teams remain the same but move Andover to 3 and St. Francis is the 4. Cambridge has had a good start as well.

1. Forest Lake
2. Elk River
3. Andover
4. St Francis
5. Cambridge

My money is on Forest Lake, but it should be competitive this year. Duluth will not contend but will have some quality wins. Grand Rapids doesn't have enough depth on the blue line to be a top 4 team this year.
1. F. Lake
2. Elk River
3. Princeton
4. Andover

Should be a good battle Kniven - your team may be as good as any in the section. Moose Lake might be the sleeper, they lost some great seniors but still have talent and goaltending. The Mirage will be strong as always. Marshall may be a threat if they can put the puck in the net. Hibbing lost a lot ...

Re: 7AA for 2017-2018

I think Rapids lost too much.

1. DE
2. ER
3. DM
4. C-E-C
5. GR
6. Andover
7. FL
8. St Francis
9. Cambridge

Hermantown would be the 2 or 3 seed if they played AA.

Does anything change in your pre, pre, pre season ranks with coach Smalley on board at CEC. I think their stock went up as a team with the hiring. The best thing to do to shut a parent up or a poison in the locker room is cut the kid or sit his arss. I think coach Smalley will be more than happy to...

BEST POST I HAVE EVER SEEN ON THIS FORUM

...and freshman play bantams. this may have been answered before but how can they play AA at youth and A in high school? sounds like it defeats the purpose??? It is a strange phenomenon. Apparently something happens to players from Hermantown between 9th and 10th grade that renders them incapable o...

Hermantown

For all that's holy in life someone please tell me that this is Hermantown last year in A. Not a challenge for the kids, nothing left to prove! Youth numbers are off the charts - no more excuses.

Here is a snippet of an article from the Howie Blog, written by Howie Hanson of Duluth. Some pretty good quotes from the coaches. The CEC victory all but assured Duluth East a top-three seed for the upcoming Section 7AA playoffs, which begin later this month. Elk River and Grand Rapids also are a lo...

Rochester girls HS programs

Why does Rochester have 3 separate girls HS programs? Are they all strong enough to self sustain? Looking at playoff scores it seems like it might make more sense for them to combine.

I don't know exactly how you do it but Class A should be reserved for small rural programs and big city programs that have a small number of participants relative to the student body. Privates would have to apply to play in Class A based on numbers; a school like Minnehaha for example should be allo...

Move Denfeld up to #3 (Greenway #4) after beating section 7AA Cloquet-Esko-Carlton. Move North Shore down to #6 (Virginia #5) after losing to International Falls. Greenway just played a one goal game with Hermantown, a great team that crushed CEC and beat Denfeld 4-1, so I wouldn't drop Greenway ju...

Andover is falling apart, 9-2 loss tonight - they could be staring at the 7 seed. Cloquet tough loss to section 7A Denfeld tonight. Rapids took care of business as did Forest Lake and Elk River.
