Exiled, agree with many of your posts points, but in my experience, no kid is going to rent cheap skates, use cheap wood sticks, if all the rest of his friends on the teams don't, whether his family can afford it or not. No way would a kid put up with what they think of as embarrassment. I agree wi...

I was in Chicago talking to some parents last season who had kids on the LA Jr Kings Tier 1 team. What was enlightening to me was the cost. It was $12k-$14k per season to play. Add to that the travel expenses and typical extras. The shortest distance they traveled for a game was over 100 miles. Lot...

Bash Minnesota Hockey all you want, but there is no question that: a) Minnesota produces more high level players than any other state by a factor. It produces more professionals playing at the highest level than any country other than Canada. Sweden has about as many. b) Hockey parents and players ...

Re: Goalie
How do they get away with this? 1) Goalie from SW private metro team leaves for AAA team in CO 2) Senior goalie from a northern MN HS team rumored to be "transferring" to said SW metro soon after departure is announced 3) Said senior goalie from northern MN HS team makes Elite League for Team North...

Re: USA roster
3 MN boys. Is that a good sign of our state of hockey? 8-[ You're reading way to much into it. USA hockey makes no bones, that they have to spread the picks around the country, keep things as equal as possible, etc. Are you saying that they don't come to a consensus, with all the evaluators and exp...

Re: General question
Something that just occurred to me, never thought about it before. Kid goes to an out of state school to play college hockey, get scholarship, etc. Are they still subject to out of state tuition rates, or do athletes get a break on that too ? I.e., which rate would the scholarship apply to ? They a...

As far as the kid from up north, has Sibells name been mentioned? Heard he was going to Providence, but maybe he changed his mind. I do know the New Prague A Bantam goalie has decided to change from NP to Holy Family. It's Gabe Hiefort from Bemidji coming to The Family This should be interesting. G...

Re: Ausmus Leaving?
I don't understand Ausmus leaving. He is a small 165 pound D'man and to be honest was the 4th best Defenseman on last years championship team. He would have been the defensive leader of what obviously would have been an outstanding team. Is a year in Lincoln going to prepare him for D1? Now if you ...

Re: Warroad
I can't argue with you on that. In spite of all the attention Warroad gets about their first line talent, I think EGF will have a significant advantage. Weber looked good with those four D'men in front of him. If Ausmus is gone, I just don't see how they replace that kind of loss. I think Warroad i...

Regarding Serratore, did he play there ? Yes, he did play out the string. My bet is he'll play somewhere next year for money as well. With the number of opportunities there are all over the world in pro hockey, I don't think it is far fetched to say most college players end up getting paid to play....
