Re: Is Greenway turning into Hermantown?
Yes I hear Smalley, Jago, Corey Millen and Esse are on the short list for the CSS job Bruce Plante? Plante? No way, why would he want job? When will St. Scholastica make the hire? Millen would be a good fit; Smalley too. Smalley is the only high school coach in the hunt, Millen yes and 2 other D1 a...

Re: Is Greenway turning into Hermantown?
"your" Jacks were too when your idol was the head coach. Too bad Smalley can't get any of that talent to come to Cloquet. They did, although it wasn't Smalley who got him there. Galatz went to Cloquet for bantams and will be a sophomore next season, where he should be a solid contributor ...

Stay tuned? Others? The only other two D1 spots open right now.....that I am aware of....is Alaska-Fairbanks and Alaska-Anchorage. Seems like all the initial candidates for Anchorage, aside from one, have backed out. Fairbanks is not looking that attractive to many either. I don't necessarily see a...

Hermantown and Duluth East on top of the food chain regarding hockey in the Duluth area. It’s just the way it is. Cloquet Bantam AA dominated at regions and finished third at state. Yes they did :). It was awesome! CEC high school hockey has a three year window starting in 2018-2019. Hermantown and...

Re: Final AA Rankings 2018
Yes, CEC was overrated. I think a better way to put it would be: The talent was underrated, but the coaching change severely dampened this teams state tournament chances this year. Change is very difficult in life, especially divorce of a program and it’s coach of 18 years. The kids had a lot of fu...

Re: Hermantown upsets Red Wing on this day 20 years ago
I believe today marks the 20th anniversary of when Hermantown upset of (defending champion and no.1 ranked) Red Wing in the 1998 state tournament. Hard to believe it's been 20 years since. The Hawks were heavy underdogs against Johnny Pohl and that Winger team that year(Red Wing was the defending s...

Well, the funny thing is CEC high school hockey is going to be good on paper the next 3 years. And then we'll be back to where we usually are. Struggle with talent, but the kids work extremely hard. I think it would be redicilous to leave the LSC anyway just because we have 3 years of talent (high ...

East-Marshall: great crowd, good atmosphere...and a game that went off the rails in a hurry. East was as impressive as I've seen them, and Marshall seemed to come out tentatively and quickly fell into shellshock. East was rolling in every facet...the first three goals came from different lines, Lyl...

East-Cloquet will be East-Cloquet. From an objective standpoint, the two regular season games this year have been as good as it gets. This rivalry is back in full force. The Hounds came out the way they've been playing lately and had good control through the first and second periods, especially whe...

Loopy day for some of the 7AA chase pack. Marshall, fresh off its tie with Hibbing, pulls out a big win over STA. Andover's recent roll hits a bump as they got shut out by Maple Grove. Elk River did not acquit itself well in its visit to Duluth. Cloquet, meanwhile, is idle and has snuck back ahead ...

Question. If Dulut East played the Minnesota Wilderness in a game, what would it look like? Duluth East is as big or bigger than the Wilderness boys. 12 elite league players with size an skill with Randolph coaching. Huge edge to goal tending would be huge ad to MW. Running time for MW? Not even fu...

Re: Lumberjacks at Hermantown
I won’t be there tonite. I think Hermantown is a lot like the New EnglandPatriots in the NFL. Their system is so dang empressive each year. Lumberjacks have their hands and everything else full tonight. I think Hermantown wins in their barn in Hermantown. The game is scheduled to be streamed on www...

Karl and Lee are East fans to the end. I think they don’t won’t Hermantown to be in the 7AA mix any way shape or form. If Hermantown town ever moved up with the big boys East would have some problems so they protect them intended and unintended on the Forum. I don’t fault them in any way. If I had ...

The idea of keeping the method a secret so coaches don't manipulate results around the ranking is a noble thought. I understand the sentiment, but it results in a much less effective list than PS2, MyHockeyRankings, or Sagarin. There isn’t a perfect method I’m thinking. It’s what the majority wants...
