Figure out what the talent level is in your association, then choose your teams accordingly. Year to year adjustments should be normal. Since WBL didn't win State in overwhelming fashion(or in any fashion), then one would have to assume that they were playing at the right level.

Always about scoring and forwards... in most cases. How about top defense in scoring. Would be nice to see this list. I totally agree...but that project is VERY difficult to pull off. Even more so than just straight scoring totals, as the D-men don't pile up big numbers (usually) that can be more e...

Saw that hit. Totally uncalled for. Exceed player was nowhere near puck and was totally defenseless, as well as much smaller than the MG player. Hope the kid from Exceed is alright.

BTW, no affiliation with either team. Was there waiting for a completely different game to start.

It is normal to have one or two negative coach evals per team per year. If there were none, then you had a really "together" team. More than two negative evals might be cause for concern, more than 5 certainly should put the coach's year under the spotlight. Keep in mind that the severity ...

JSR,

Exactly. Veto power, if you will, that I would use judiciously, and hopefully not at all.

If I'm coaching a team I want some control over who is on it. That is precisely my fear. Coach's kid, kid's two best friends, and so on. No, it doesn't always happen. But it happens a lot. Yes, it can happen. Can also happen that a talented(or bubble)kid can be a complete cancer( bullying, refuses ...

Looks like the Machine Orange is the only top flight 2000 team in MN. I don't think the Euros would've done any better than the Blades.

Is it that the MN teams don't have enough puck skills, or is it that theCanucks have better skills without the puck?

It has bothered Machine Black parents and kids in the past. If it bothers them enough they leave the program. As one parent said,

"It's all about the Orange."

I think the new system is more fair, but needs to be tweaked on an Association by Association basis. Some years within a town are very strong, others not so much. Some ability to adjust to these realities must be allowed. No problem with MPLS not having an AA team. It's not like they were blowing ou...

A guy at my sons PWB2 game kept screaming out "Homer!" during breaks and face offs. Finally the ref turned around, pointed at him, pointed at the door, and waited till he made his way out of the arena(trying to smirk and act as if he didn't mind, but doing a REALLY bad job of it) to the si...

The 2000 Magicians are looking pretty good. They were always a cohesive team, but they are significantly bigger and more powerful than last year's team. They aren't ready to take on the Machine or anything, but they should give the Blades, Edge, or Euro Americans a good game.

Re: Podein Out at St. Louis Park

Shjon Podein stepped down this morning after two seasons. He cited a desire to spend more time with his son and daughter. At the end of year banquet he referenced the conflict he was having. Association paid a large salary to him to run youth program training as well. Not sure if he plans on coachi...

Something that you probably can't help with, increasing participant numbers. Hockey is becoming a game for the rich, and pretty soon it will be nothing but them playing each other.

PWAA Edina 3 Duluth 2 at the end of two. Duluth was ahead 1-0 and 2-1. Shots are 22-10 Edina, but Duluth keeps splitting their D in the neutral zone. BAA PL 4 OMG 3 2OT. Bit of a thriller. PL was behind 3-2 in the third. Game tieing and winning goal by #8 from PL. Duluth 4 STMA 2. Tied at 2 going in...

The only time one can be sure of biased reffing in MN is when a Metro team plays up north against a northern team. The only exception to that rule I've found is in Roseau.
